A lot of new users have the same questions, how to make money on myLot, how quickly they can make money on myLot, and the biggest question of all is how does myLot calculate earnings. All anyone can do is offer suggestions about these things. MyLot has a strict algorithm on how they pay people and no one will ever really be able to figure it out. All I hope to accomplish with this article is to let some newer members know what I have done and how I have been able to make money on myLot. I am not trying to explain how they pay, just sharing information and how I have been successful.
Make sure when you first start on myLot you read the guidelines. There you will learn what you can and can't post about, as well as some things that could be considered abuse. You don't want to be caught off guard by finding a post you created gone and your post count and earnings affected because you didn't read the guidelines. Also try not to post in a discussion that is against the guidelines. It will affect you the same way as if you had posted it yourself. There is nothing more frustrating then to come onto myLot to see your earnings, post count and star rating have gone down because of guideline violations.
First off don't let post count fool you. A lot of people first starting out on myLot thinks that the way to make money is to have a high post count. This morning my post count stood at 129 and I had $10.95, there are people posting that they just hit payout and have over 400 posts. How did I do this? It's very simple actually.
Referrals will earn you money also. I believe you earn 25% of what your referrals earn. I don't have any referrals and am not stressing getting any anytime soon. If I get some eventually great, if not well it's not that important. A lot of people go out and try very hard to get referrals. If your referrals aren't active, then they don't earn you anything. I have seen members say that they are frustrated that their referrals joined and don't do anything.
One of the things I make sure of when I post a discussion or respond to another's discussion is that I am detailed in my post. You get a much better payoff for posting an in-depth response that helps the discussion rather than just one line. Also make sure you stay within the posted topic. For example, if someone posts a discussion in the making extra money interest talking about something like how commenting to discussions can help earn you money on myLot, don't post something about how people can earn money on another program you are a part of. That is completely off topic and can hurt your rating.
When posting pictures make sure the picture is on topic also. You don't want for instance to post a picture of a beach scene when you are talking about flowers that grow in the winter during a snowfall. While it can be funny, it doesn't have anything to do with the actual topic at hand. Everything should be relevant, it's same thing with links. You can post links as long as they are relevant to the discussion and it is not something you are an affiliate to.
Comment on discussions! This is where most people don't realize that they can make money as well. Whether you are commenting on a discussion that you started, or commenting on another's discussion. A lot of people on myLot say that you don't get paid for them because the post count is not affected. However as a test to this one day I did nothing but to post some comments on discussions I made. While my post count did not go up, the next day I saw that I had earned money just for the comments that I made. Commenting also helps a discussion move along and keeps it interesting. It keeps a discussion alive so to speak. Discussions should be two way conversations, hard to have that if you don't comment.
Tag all your comments, and discussions. Not only does this help myLot, but you will notice that the ads on top and bottom will change according to the tags that are added. Naturally if myLot makes money off the ads, it is safe to say then that they will have more income to distribute to their members. I am not sure if it will help you earn money, but if it helps the site make money reason dictates that it will help you in the long run.
And finally we come to the last part. Rating and picking a best response. This is something I have always done, but I am not sure how it affects money. I do it because not only is it polite, but its something that you want others to do for you. I have seen a discussion where someone has said that picking a best response helps your earnings; however that is not something I can confirm. Doing these things does make you an active member of the community, and being active is most important.
Again let me stress that no one really knows how myLot pays us and I am in no means trying to figure that out. I am simply writing this to help newer members, or people thinking of joining, by letting them know some of the things I have done and been successful with. It's just a tip guide not a cheat sheet. I know a lot of people have questions about myLot and I am just sharing my experiences.
