Making Money Online with Custom Printed Products

For schools, churches, sports teams, and events, custom printed products are hot. If you want to get in on the highly profitable business of selling custom printing, there are several things you must know. From product production to marketing and delivery, you can profit with custom printed t-shirts, hats, mouse pads, mugs, and bags.

Getting Custom Printed Products

The easiest way to get custom printed products is to use one of the online programs such as Cafepress. They have a wide range of possible products such as t-shirts, mouse pads, mugs, tote bags, and key chains. All you have to do is design your pictures or sayings that you want on the items, load it into the site, and start marketing.

If you would rather have more control over the entire process, you must purchase special irons, heat presses, or decal material to make different custom printed products. While these machines can be expensive, they will pay for themselves when you begin to sell.

Besides the machines to print the products, you also need transfer paper or decals to use, and the products themselves. Purchasing plain t-shirts, hats, and mouse pads in bulk at wholesale prices is necessary.

Building Your Custom Printing Business

There are two methods of building a custom printed product business. The first is to come up with the custom designs yourself. Many t-shirt sellers do this with cartoon drawings and funny sayings. With this method, you become a product developer and then must find the particular niche or customers to market to.

The other method for running a custom printed product business is to print designs that others create. This business model has you catering to those who wish special t-shirts, hats, or other products for their sports team, school, or special event. While competition for these may be strong, building a reputation for quality work increases the chance for clients.

While many sports teams and schools have a particular mascot and word or words they would like on a custom printed product, you can also market your services as a designer. This service can be included in the price, or market it separately as design consultation or something like that.

Selling custom printed products can be a lucrative business if you organize and market effectively. Depending on the amount of involvement you want in the process, choose an online fulfillment center or use a local printing company. Otherwise, research printing machines and heat presses and choose the ones that work best for you.
