Making a Profit on eBay Through the Reseller Marketplace

In April 2004, ebay opened a new venue for sellers called Reseller Marketplace. Essentially the marketplace is an area that allows Powersellers to buy liquidated merchandise from various manufacturers in bulk amounts for resale. Many Powersellers have taken advantage of this opportunity, and have essentially made money just by being the middleman.

Experienced Powersellers advise those new to the Reseller Marketplace to do some research on completed auctions first in order to check out what is selling. Nothing is worse than getting stuck with a bulk load of a product no one will buy.

Powersellers on ebay each have their own secrets to their success. Some believe in listing all items at a 99 cent starting price with no reserve - others disagree. But what everyone can agree on is that if you want to make a profit on ebay, it is extremely important to run your business professionally. Make your page look like it is taking the business of selling seriously, and the customers will in turn take you seriously.

By taking the cheap way out, being careless when packing items (and thereby sending the wrong item to the wrong client), or not leaving communication open with potential customers, you will risk losing business. Powersellers also advise other sellers to set up automation early - by automating the functions of your business early, it will save you time and money.

Top sellers also advise keeping the customer in mind when you are listing items for sale on ebay. For example, selling like items online at once will boost sales because the customer looking at one listing will want to see other items that you have for sale. If you have many different things online, the customer will not be interested in anything else but that one item.

Think also about the seasons that you are selling things. Skis in August will probably not sell all that quickly - water skis, on the other hand, probably will.
