Making Time for Friends: God's Message Today
Taking Time to Nurture Your Inner Child is Friendship's Foundation
Monday's Blessing
Ecclesiastes 4:10
"For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!"
Ecclesiastes resonates the importance of friendship. There are many more components that make us whole besides work and family. Each day we foot the responsibilities as parents, spouses, workers, and family members. Yes, all of these categories make us whole and complete. Yet, we often forget to nurture the one thing that keeps us happy, our inner child. This important aspect cements our well-being. Where can we find fun more than current friendships? If we choose not to remember our own needs, we become miserable, frustrated, and overwhelmed.
I can't think of anything more important than nurturing friendships. Ecclesiastes reminds us that we should never forget the importance of being a friend and keeping a friendship- lest you will be left in the dark. Yet, life becomes so busy that we often leave our friends in the dust. We leave them hanging on a string till it is more convenient in our schedules to call them back. Is it no wonder, when we need someone the most, we are placed on an instant call messaging, too? There is nothing more heart-rending than being left to fall alone without someone to pick you up! Nurture those friendships this week and reap the rewards.
Daily Guidance
1. Each morning, as you wake this week, let your first thoughts be of all your wonderful friends. Who do you need to reconnect with? Friends leave us whole and give us a reprieve from our daily undertakings.
2. Make time to call this week, or email to reconnect with these delightful people. Get on Facebook . Make a profile, if you haven't already, and spend a few minutes each day this week getting up to date with friends. Facebook is an easy way to keep up daily with those you don't see each day.
3. Make plans! Get out! Join a club! Join a gym and meet several times a week. Find something that you can do consistently at least one or two days a week with a friend. The best way to keep friendship alive is to be involved in something together. This way, you will carving out time will become automatic.
4. Go out to dinner, lunch, a movie. Find a new cool website that offeres fantastic deals like Double Take Deals or Groupon . This way you can save two for one and not feel guilty about such pleasures.
5. Above all, don't ever let these loved ones slip away for long again!
