Malcolm Kelly's NFL Draft Preview

The Professor
The junior out of Oklahoma is coming off a stellar year as he goes into the NFL Draft. Last year he caught 49 balls for 821 yards and nine touchdowns, reports rivals.com. He's a player that has yet to reach all of his potential. He is an end zone target with 21 touchdowns over his three years in college. He is known to be a end zone threat because of his size. He also is able to win balls against defenders. He also averaged over 16 yards per catch during his three years with Oklahoma. He could become a go to receiver and end zone target.

Strengths: He is a big man in a small class of receivers. While, the other top receivers Mario Manningham and Desean Jackson are 6' and 5'9", respectively. Kelly is 6'4" and weighs about 217 lbs. His size is one of the reasons that Kelly is one of the few receivers that can take a big hit. He is taller than most corners. This allows him to go up and win a ball. He is a athletic player that is nice big target for a quarterback.

Weaknesses: Kelly doesn't lack much, but he does lack blazing speed. But don't let him fool you. He's no slowpoke. He can't blow by a corner, but he isn't slow by any one's opinion.

Where he could fall: Kelly could land anywhere in the first round thanks to a deep wide receiver class. His most likely landing spot is later in the draft with Tennessee or San Francisco. Philadelphia at #19 also needs a threat for McNabb who is getting old and needs weapons. Kelly can develop into a number one receiver which Philly hasn't had since TO. At # 24 Tennessee is in need of a big target. Vince Young can throw the ball, but he needs a target which Kelly could provide. Another team is San Francisco at # 29 where Kelly could remind fans of TO without the attitude. Buffalo is another option as Trent Edwards and Kelly could grow in the NFL together.
