Malcontents Never Agree; Perhaps Courting Paris Kept Greece's Sun Rising?

Susan Elliott
Sovereignty of mind; distracted with unchecked passion
brought forth unyielding
destruction by sea worn men.

Apocalyptic in nature; Yet, not without precedence
in Greece and in Troy. (Both fated by fickle gods).

Concerning
Odysseus'
infinitesimal undertakings, this one he didn't want.

Many heroes, who would be, not wanting to be the first on the Trojan
shore; prophetic death awaited.

Kings, princes and men of valor followed faithfully, on both sides, only
to meet sealed death.

Elysian Fields, however, waited patiently for her
mortal-dead,
leaving few survivors and shattered kingdoms.

The Exercise:

TITLE Letters: MNAPCPKGSR

POEM letters: SBDACOIMKEL

*This poem was written for a class I took at Barnes and Noble University. Several years ago, Barnes and Noble offered free classes with authors. I happened to be admitted to a poetry class, which was amazing. The teacher instructed us to write poems in several genres, and by using several different methods. This poem was written by starting each line with the given letters. The title also followed this same pattern.

This is a tricky, yet fun exercise!
