Male Hair Growth: My Experiment

Greg Seltz
For those of you unfamiliar with my experiment, which initially began 8 months ago, my attempts at growing longer, healthier hair is near succession. As previously related, damaged hair prevented the length from achieving maximum potential, and typically resided in the 2-3 inch region. Naturally, former Marine Corps and all, I was accustomed to shorter hair. However, roughly a year ago I decided to experiment and indulge the effort of achieving desired results.

First Update in November, 2009

For those of you not interested in longer hair, at least be advised that these tips also provide shorter, healthier hair. Assuming you fear straying far from your short, faded haircut, these ingredients also provide thicker, more conditioned hair......eventually results provide significantly strengthened follicles, and thus a more satisfying physical appearance.

Firstly, split ends prevent hair from obtaining maximum lengths. Normal hair growth for males barely succeeds half an inch per month. Assuming split ends are removed every 2-3 months, you should estimate an inch each quarter of the year. One secret that may/or may not help, as it fails to be proven, is to utilize Mane & Tail, a horse shampoo/conditioner. Apparently, various individuals, including myself, have noticed quicker hair growth after initiating the product into their routine. Now that we have resolved the "longer" portion of the article, let's proceed to the "healthier" aspect. Mixed among the contents of the Mane & Tail shampoo I have included Apple Cider Vinegar. For those already questioning the usage, feel free to look it up. ACV is commonly used as a cleanser and also promotes pH balance. However, please note that it similarly dries the hair stems. This is why you must ensure that concluding the shampoo, you condition properly. Each week, I like to add an old banana or avocado that provides various oils and shine to the hair, not too mention how well it conditions the hair. I, personally, also regret the days I fail to use product to style the hair. Which is why I use the Mane & Tail conditioner, also a leave-in conditioner, for styling purposes. I guarantee that after a small dosage is applied and mixed with water, the results are fairly stronger than most gels and hairsprays I previously used.

To conclude, this is a mere update following my original experiment. 8 months ago, I failed to reach lengths over 3 inches. Today, after following the aforementioned routine, my hair reaches nearly 6 inches. I have never experienced results similar to these, and I have worked in the all natural, all organic hair care industry for over 3 years. Give it a shot!

interesting article, stimulating hair follicles is the best way, massage your scalp so that you get the blood flowing for new hair growth, combined with a good diet it works :)
