Malibu Grill in San Jose, Calif.

Malibu Grill opened its doors in 1989 as a family owned sports bar in Almaden Valley. Sunday is its busiest day, especially during football season, when die-hard sports fans come to watch the games while they eat with their friends. Expect to wait at least an hour for a table, sometimes longer. If waiting isn't an option, Malibu Grill takes orders to go. It used to deliver but no longer offers that service.

Atmosphere

While the food tastes good, people go there for the family friendly atmosphere. Adults can watch whatever sports show is playing on one of the eight flat-screen televisions while their kids play video games or pinball. There is a wide variety of food on the menu, including chicken and rib dinners, pizza and pasta, salads, chicken sandwiches, Malibu sandwiches and appetizers. There is something for everyone to enjoy, even the kids.

Customer Favorites

A couple of the Malibu Grill favorites are the baby back and chicken dinners, which come with baked beans and garlic bread, along with a choice of three side dishes. Other favorites include the Shroom Bird chicken sandwich, the club, the Philly Tri-Tip steak sandwich and the Malibu cheeseburger. All sandwiches and hamburgers come with fries and a pickle.

Other Good Menu Items

The BBQ chicken sandwich comes dripping with a thin, sweet sauce that is quite messy. Keep plenty of napkins handy when eating this sandwich.

The turkey melt has a smoky taste and comes with bacon, Swiss cheese, onion and sourdough bread. This meal is quite filling, especially when eating the mound of fries that comes with it.

The garden salad tastes great on a hot day. Besides lettuce, it contains mozzarella, tomatoes, olives, white onion, green and red bell peppers, mushrooms and croutons. Eat it as it is or add grilled chicken, crunchy chicken or Tri-Tip steak. All salads come with garlic bread.
