Mally's Water Ice and Ice Cream brought a taste of Philadelphia to Charlotte streets in small plastic cups several years ago. No visit to the Queen City is complete without sampling one of their frozen confections. I was first introduced to their delicious desserts by its free-standing store, formerly located on Beatties Ford Road. Now you can find Mally's Water Ice & Ice Cream in brightly colored carts all over Charlotte.
What is Philadelphia Style Water Ice? It's a softer type of Italian ice that is eaten usually out of a cup, with a spoon. It can be blended with ice cream, or eaten alone as non-dairy frozen treat. Mally's currently offers 16 different flavors that you can enjoy alone, or combine 2 or more flavors and create your own cool combination. It doesn't stop there. I heard straight from Mally himself that there is more to come.
Mally's is well known for their Philadelphia-style water ice. Flavors include Carolina Blueberry, Lemon, Cherry, my favorite Mango, and many more. Try one or your very own combination of two or more. Their water ice is creamy, unlike the shaved ice imitators that beat the streets during the summer. The inferior water ice vendors used shaved ice and pour a sugar rich syrup on top. Not Mally's. Their water ice is made the Philadelphia way, and is fat free and cholesterol free. The best part about it is that they are available to come to you for any special event or fundraiser if you can't find a cart locally.
Mally's recently introduced homemade ice cream and gelato to their menu. I haven't had a chance to sample one, but I am sure it will not disappoint. Contact them to find out where they are serving today, or to book them for your private event. Summertime is not the only time you can enjoy a quality water ice. No matter the season or temperature, the refreshing taste of Mally's Water Ice will satisfy you. You can purchase your favorite flavor by the cup or by the bucket to enjoy at home.
