Mama Cozzi Mini Deep Dish Pizzas are packaged in an eleven point twelve ounce frozen box. I paid only $1.99 for this eight count package, which I felt was a great bargain. The front of the box advertises that this snack contains real cheese and contains no Trans Fat. Both of these facts were very big selling points for me. The picture on the front is of very delicious looking miniature pizzas with small bits of pepperoni. My family loves deep dish pizza and pepperoni is their favorite topping, so I was fairly confident this frozen appetizer would be a hit.
Preparation of this snack is as easy as could be. After removing the inner tray from the box and cutting away the cellophane film, the entire tray gets placed in the center of the microwave. The pizzas should be cooked for one and a half to two minutes on High. If your microwave does not have a turntable that rotates, turn the tray about a quarter of a turn halfway through the cooking time. When the timer goes off, the pizzas should be allowed to rest momentarily as they will be very hot.
A four pizza serving contains four hundred and sixty calories. Unfortunately there is twenty five grams of Fat in this product. Thirteen of those grams come from Saturated Fat. There is also nine hundred and ninety milligrams of Sodium which represents forty one percent of the daily recommended value. There is also forty five grams of Total Carbohydrate in this frozen snack as well as nine grams of Sugar. On the positive side of the scale, four pizzas offer two hundred and sixty milligrams of Potassium, sixteen grams of Protein, eight percent of Vitamin A and four percent of Vitamin C. Additionally, this serving size provides twenty percent of Calcium and fifteen percent of Iron.
I was just as impressed with this Mama Cozzi snack as I have been with all their other products. The pizza dough was a great combination of soft and crispy, filled with a great tasting pizza sauce. There was an ample amount of cheese and the pepperoni gave the snacks a bit of zest. The snacks were also very hearty and filling, like a great slice of deep dish pizza.
Considering that a four piece serving contains almost half of the recommended value of Sodium, I would definitely not choose to serve this snack on a regular basis. However, to add to a holiday buffet or offer guests at our annual Super Bowl party? Absolutely. Mama Cozzi Mini Deep Dish Pizzas are a very tasty snack, just one that should be enjoyed in moderation.
