Man Alleges He was Tasered Unnecessarily: Out of Control, or Being Punished?

News in Brief

Dee
A Canadian man filed a civil law suit in 2004 claiming he was tasered unnecessarily by Canadian Mounted Police, and the video has now surfaced on the Internet on YouTube. The video shows the man down on the floor, face down with his hands cuffed in back of him when the tasering occured. The video was reported by CTV and Pamela Martin and Bill Good.

The man John Dempsy had been arrested for intervening when a friend of his was being roughed up by police. He also claims he was punched in the face while he was down on the floor, and also states he was not resisting arrest.

His lawyer claims an implant in Dempsey's brain for a disease he suffered from was destroyed by the tasering. Dempsey has since been killed by an accident on a highway, and the lawsuit will most likely "go nowhere" according to the video.

This reminds me of that tasered video from Al Gore's speech at a college. Pretty crazy.

I think this sort of thing happens more than we can imagine. It's a sad state of affairs that probably won't be addressed any time soon.

Call me the odd man out, but he looks as if he was still struggling to get free when the taser was used.

i agree with you Dee...they need to have some kind of control on giving the cops and guards authority to use these tasers...you never know if it becomes more of a power trip with them..thanks for the awareness!!
