Man Claims Insanity in Delaware Murder Trial

Allison Norman was Trying to Protect His Daughter

WriteOnMom
According to the Associated Press, Allison Lamont Norman, 27, is claiming that he was protecting the life of his 5-year-old daughter and keeping her from being abducted by aliens when he shot two people in a multi-state shooting rampage. The shootings took place in Maryland and Delaware.

Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty in this case, the Associated Press reported. Norman shot and wounded four people and killed two when he went on the shooting spree. Norman's attorney told jurors today that his client was having a "psychotic episode " when the shootings took place, and that his client honestly thought he was protecting his daughter.

The two victims were 24-year-old Jamell Weston and 28-year-old DeVondale Peters. The Associated Press has said that the Delaware charges were dropped so that the case in Maryland could proceed. A prosecutor in Maryland says this was done due to the way the "two states handle insanity pleas."

The Associated Press is reporting that the shooting spree started in Laurel, Md., with Norman wearing a bullet proof vest and he was also carrying a handgun when he then stole a vehicle, drove to an apartment complex and shot Jamell Weston and another man, before then driving to a shopping center and wounding another man. He then drove about 13 miles to Salisbury, Del., where he shot DeVondale Peters and two other people. In Salisbury, he also shot two dogs. One victim that was shot in Salisbury was left paralyzed after the gun shot wounds he suffered from Norman.

According to the Associated Press, Allison Norman, after going into police custody "stuck his head in a toilet, drank his own urine and ate his own feces after being arrested." Defense Attorney O'Neill is saying that the testimony to this is "far fetched" and that his client was trying to prove "his worthiness to get his family back".

Prosecutors are urging jurors to keep their "minds open" while hearing testimony about the shootings, actions after Allison Norman's arrest and while they decide the outcome of this bizarre case.

One thing the prosecutors and the defense attorneys are agreeing on is that Allison Lamont Norman did pull the trigger on the day of the shootings. However the defense attorneys are saying their client was insane at the time and should not be tried for the death penalty but be put under psychiatric care.

Any one under that much stess should not have been allowed to have sontact with the daughter to begin with. Where was the mother at this time and where did he get the notion that there were aliens after his daughter. Also why wasnt he stoped after the first shooting instead of being allowed to continue on his spree of confusion and death. Things of this nature should be seen ahead of time and taken under control by the people who should love and respect them. If a five year old knows that "daddy wasnt in his right state of mind" than any competent adult should be able to tell and take things under control or at least have the ball rolling in the right direction to stop the violence before it brings younf peopll to death before there time is trully over.

My daddy wasn't in his right state of mind at the time and he is not responsible for his poor actions that were taken. Anyone who's smart enough and paying attention should know he wasn't in his right state of mind, he's been through alot,it has infected him and he is truley mental ill!!!
