Man Commits Suicide by Jumping Off the Empire State Building

Andrew Berry
Suicide in any case is not the answer, but some people are blinded by depression, sadness, and feel they are merely out of options. There are always other ways to deal and cope with hard situations, no matter what they are. Life is sacred, and nothing will bring you back once you decide to fall into death's arms.

However, a man, whom was identified by authorities as Moshe Kanovksy, decided to commit suicide by jumping out of the 69th floor of the Empire State Building on Friday, April 13th, 2007.

Police came to the aid at the historic landmark when a 911 caller reported seeing a leg from 33rd Street at about 2:50 p.m. The 69th floor was most likely Moshe Kanovksy's office since he was a lawyer, and the office window he jumped from was a law office. The reason Kanovksy wanted to commit suicide is currently unknown by the general public, more insight may come further from friends, family members, and co-workers.

When Kanovksy jumped from the 69th law office window he didn't make it to the ground, which would have caused many people so stare in horror. His body actually landed on a 30th-floor setback, and stayed there until police and other authorities found the body. In order to minimalize publicity about the story, and for other reasons, authorities closed off Fifth and Sixth Avenues until everything was cleared.

Like I said before, there were many options aside from suicide in this situation. Kanovksy could have talked to people close to him if what was on his mind was truly that secretive and/or embrassing. It's sad to see people commit suicide when their lives could have easily been saved if they just merely spoke a few words. A lot of people who consider suicide do not initially think how their death is going to effect their friends, family, co-workers, and the other people surrounding them.

Moshe Kanovksy was a working lawyer and was in his late 30's according to authorities at the scene of the sad suicide.
