Man Hires Rapist Through Craigslist

Jennifer Wagner
A North Carolina man has been accused of using Craigslist to hire a man to rape his wife. According to CBS News, the unidentified husband used the online services of Craigslist to enlist the services of a man (who has not yet been apprehended) to rape his wife in the couple's Kannapolis home. The couple's two children were inside the home when the rape occurred, but they were unaware of the attack.

Police were notified of the crime when the wife called 911 early Sunday morning, and reported that she had been raped at knife-point in the bedroom of her home. It is reported that her husband was in the room at the time of the attack.

The name of the husband is being withheld to protect the identity of his wife, who is also the rape victim. The husband faces first-degree rape and other charges, and is being held on $ 200,000 bond. Records show the husband declined the services of a public defender at his first hearing, and another has been rescheduled for June 30, 2009.

The search continues for the attacker, but one of the lead investigators in the case, Capt. Chuck Adams, stated that there is a "strong lead" in the case, but would not disclose further information.

Craigslist is an internet website that provides classified listing for jobs, housing, personal ads, services, and other classified type ads. Police report that the unidentified husband had responded to at lest two personal ads on Craigslist before arranging for his wife's rape.

Since becoming a web-based service in 1996, Craigslist has been criticized for its "erotic service" postings, which were later removed. The removal of these controversial ads occurred after a Boston medical student was charged with the death of a woman he met on the site; he was dubbed the "Craigslist Killer".

There was a cyber stalker who actually went into chat rooms and pretended to be a woman that he wanted someone to rape. He gave her address...time at home...and - acting as her - asked people in the chat room to "drop by" and rape her. You can read more about it in my article "Cyber Crime and the Dirty Dozen."

I remember reading a story about this that someone else wrote. I can't imagine what that man/monster must have been thinking to hire someone to do such a terrible thing to his onw wife. What ever happened to the other part of him? I guess he didn't believe that she was ever a part of him. Must have only been a piece of meat, so why even marry her in the first place? Since he did marry her, however, how could he even dream of doing such a thing and if I remember right from the other story that I read he just sat or stodd and watched. I hope that when he gets in prison some big burly man makes him his own woman and wonder what he would think if that man decided to do the same with him and let the all the other prisoners have at him as well. Your story is excellently written. I hope my comment doesn't offend anyone, but that man is more than disgusting. Johnny Yuma

People are so strange. Why would you want someone to rape your wife?
