Sean Bell was laid to rest Friday. His funeral took place in the church where he was to marry his high school sweetheart and the mother of his two children. Rev. Lester Williams was to officiate over Bell's wedding, but instead he presided over his funeral.

Bell was killed and two of his friends wounded when police officers shot 50 rounds at his car last week while they were leaving a strip club just hours before his wedding. Bell and his companions were unarmed.

The five officers who fired their guns included two blacks, two whites and one Hispanic.

The reasons behind the shooting are not yet clear, but it is believed that one of the officers thought that one of the men had a gun.

There is currently an ongoing investigation into the incident.

Since the shooting there has been a large out pouring of emotion as well as anger. Several people at the funeral held signs calling for justice and an end to police brutality against the black community.

According to the AP, blue police barricades stretched for about two blocks in anticipation of a large crowd.

Rev. Al Sharpton also attended the funeral which was held at the community church of christ. "We must give Sean a legacy. A legacy of justice, a legacy of fairness. We don't hate cops, we don't hate race, we hate wrong," said Sharpton.

Family members of the two survivors spoke to the large crowd and called for calm at the funeral. One of the victims, Trent Benefield is in stable condition. The third victim, Joseph Guzman, remains in intensive care in critical condition.
