Man Law: A Sweeping Trend of Laws Gaining Rapid Popularity

Daniel Rein
The Man Law phenomenon is quickly becoming one of the biggest movements, trends, fads- whatever you want to call it. Man Law, for those of you who do not own a television, or have vacationed outside of this country, or are simply not in the loop, is the name for a series of law created by the Budweiser beer. The beer company should give a nice fat raise to whomever came up with the idea of Man Law because it is one of the hottest commercials right now in television with fans and men, and even a few women craving more of it. Beer sales have gone through the roof with the Man Law Commercials which feature a group of men called the Round Table men sitting around precisely that- a round table.

The Round Table Men features actor and director Billy Bob Thornton and wrestler Triple X; two men who represent aspects of the careers of men and aspects of society that men can relate to as "manly" such as wrestling. Other people at the table you might recognize such as guy wearing a cowboy hat or the comedic actor at the table or even the really old guy serving as the scroll writing in the Man law book. Each of the men at the Round table have their own individual appeal to the average man and each commercial is loved by the American public.

Various laws have been created according to the commercial which are considered to be manly. For example, in one such commercial, the topic centered around spilling beer and how it was a crime to spill another man's beer. Another topic of conversation in the commercial was putting tropic fruit like lemons and limes in beer. Thus the headline of the commercial was "Don't Fruit The Beer" as the old man says at the end of the commercial.
The last commercial I saw was also pretty funny with Billy bob Thornton stating how a man should not leave his friends behind. This occurs when the cowboy man goes away from the Round Table to talk to his gorgeous girlfriend. Then when Billy Bob Thornton goes over to the woman to see how attractive she really is, Billy bob Thornton, who serves as the leader of the Round Table Men, changes his tune and recesses the group of men.

Thus the tag line of the commercial was: Don't leave your friends for a woman unless she is drop dead gorgeous. Most, if not all of these man law commercials are hysterically funny and highly original. In fact, these Man Laws have created new groups online called Man Law groups with men creating their own Man Laws and adopting them into everyday life.

In the online blog websites such as Facebook and MySpace, Man Law groups have been created with people creating their own Man Laws. One such group had "women shouldn't drive" as one of their laws while another law stated that leaving a drunk friend behind was a violation of the man code. One website went so far as to give each of its members a series of Man cards. Man cards were given according to the rules of the game for manly actions such as buying a six pack of beer. Man Cards were taken away for saying girly things or violating the man code. It was pretty funny.

So the next time you see a beer commercial featuring the Men of the Round Table, embrace the commercial and adopt the law as your own

First, It's Miller Light not budweiser that airs the commercial. Second, It's a square table, not round. Third, It's Burt Reynolds, not Billy Bob Thorton. And fourth, It's Triple H, not Triple X. Just letting you know.
