Man to Monkey Billboards

Used to Challenge Evolution

Bible Doc
A Christian group is using billboards showing a man turning into a monkey in order to emphasize the idea that "there is no proof" for the theory of evolution. The group, Who Is Your Creator? has also created an online game titled "Let's See How Evolution Works." Billboards, located at six sites in Oregon and Georgia, ask viewers, "Are They Making a Monkey Out of You?" More billboards are planned for Pennsylvania, Ohio, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Missouri, according to Julie Haberle, founder of the non-profit group. The billboards direct people to the group's website, whoisyourcreator.com.

Haberle told Cybercast News Service that the billboards are intended to be "a parody of evolution" since many scientists "now say that the process is not just going forward, it's also going backwards." In the past, evolutionists usually contended that evolution had one path, forward, with improvements being the order of the day. However, if nature is dealing with chance mutations and natural selection, there's no way to predict the path evolving organisms will take. In the online game, the hypothetical stages of evolution are shown and critiqued. For example, if evolution is still taking place, where are the transitional forms that are evolving into something else?

In addition to its billboards and game, the group is offering $5,000 for the winning submission of a four-part legal opinion that will deal with the scientific and legal elements of teaching evolution and creation in public education. Behind the contest is a desire to educate the public on the need to critically analyze evolution. Haberle is quick to point out that her group is not suggesting that evolution be eliminated from public schools; only that it be presented in such a way that it is not simply taught as absolute truth.

Haberle contends that evolution does not make the grade scientifically if it must be supported by empirical evidence, and neither does creation. Because that is so, she believes both must be taught in public schools. She notes that a 2005 Pew Research Center Survey shows that Americans overwhelmingly believe in creation over evolution and that nearly two-thirds of Americans say that creationism should be taught alongside evolution in public schools.

But apparently a human being suddenly created by the hand of "God" is more believable.
