Does it Matter If Thomas Isn't Nancy?
Thomas had reassignment surgery many years ago, he looks like a male with a flat chest and facial hair, and is legally defined as a male, but Thomas opted to keep his female reproductive parts while becoming this legally defined man. Personally, transgender or gender crossing people do not offend me, but I do find this situation a bit curious.
When children are born, the ideal family situation allows them to feel comfortable and safe within their core family unit, and I am sure that Thomas and Nancy will be good parents. This event could not have been planned without a doctors input somehow to assure that a male sperm met a female egg.
Where my curiosity lies is in how this happy couple will handle the media barrage that will surround their private family lives from this moment forward. Will the new little girl be left alone to grow-up with her parents in a happy fashion, or will the media descend uncaring about her little feelings in an effort to drag out this story. I shall see, I guess.
A couple of decades or more back, I knew a couple like Thomas and Nancy. They lived down the road and were model citizens. Both wanted to adopt a child, but told me that they knew that the child would have problems with uncaring people's righteous remarks, so they decided against it.
Our planet has progressed over the last 25-years, where now variations on traditional family structures are becoming acceptable within some communities. What Thomas and Nancy are doing might not be my cup-of-tea, but I can see how this kind of a variation on the typical family structure might make some people very happy.
The American Psychological Association has found that people with Gay or Lesbian orientations make excellent parents according to the 'Gay & Lesbian Parenting' article on their Web site. This article also explains that the children involved in these relationships are not at psychological risk from their parents. So, my concern just rests with the public. This article does not explain what happens when the media becomes involved.
Well, Thomas and Nancy, I suppose that you know that you will be hearing more than your share of negative comments. Let me be the first on the internet to voice my congratulations. A baby is always an exciting time for a young couple. Take good care of that little girl when she gets here. In the long-run, that's all that any of us really care about no matter what the words say on the page. We all just want your little one to be happy, healthy, and safe.

I just dont understand why tracy became thomas. i mean i know that hawaii was against same gender marriages but since nancy couldnt have babies anyway why didnt she become the man. thomas was a much prettier woman as tracy than nancy is.

HMMMM... I would like to join this fray. First off, have you seen the before pictures of this weirdo? Beautiful young woman!! Now onto his life choices. I could care less if SHE decided to live life as a man. Thats HER prerogative. However, SHE is not a pregnant man. SHE is a pregnant chick who chooses to dress and act like a man. Which in itself is fine with me, but dont call HER a man because SHE's just not. Thats doesnt mean SHE should be harassed or treated badly, but dont make this out to be some miracle of nature. Its a confused WOMAN with a mustache and a masectomy. Further, how do you tell your son later in life that you gave birth to him? Do you not think that will completely rewire his brain? I dont think its wise to bring children into this world with a target on their foreheads.

why are all you people so judgmental at the end of the day the are bringing a young child in to this world im only 16 years old and all the media and all the mean and nasty thing that every one has to say about this couple is so rude cruel and nasty. they have as much right as any one else does to conceive this young baby. people say that this is going to stuff this babies life up but if this baby is as strong as her to parents she wont let her affect her she'll be strong & live with it she wont be ashamed! this is a private for thing for this family! why be so mean and nasty? why throw death threats at this family! the people that throw death threats @ this family need to be thrown in jail! WHY? because its sick & uncalled for! its not you having a baby is it no it ain't! think about that & think about the tears & the hurt all you people that have nasty things to say

Having a child is the most amazing thing in the world and no matter how the parents bring this beautiful baby girl into this world she is a child and they are her parents and they will be better parents than most couples out there because of what they have to go through to have a child at least its very well planed out and they arent having an unplaned child like alot of people out there are doing and regret having brought a child into an unwanted relationship. my partner and i are planing to have a child in the near future and we are discussing weather who should carry the child i myself have two children from a previous relationship and i would love to have my partner bare a child. Thomas and Nancy you have done an amazing thing for life and no matter what all those horrible people say about how you two have brought a child into this world just remember everytime you look into your daughters eyes just how worth every moment was. congratulations to you and your family erin d of cincy,
