What Challenges Are in Store for Man Vs. Food Host Adam Richman This Season?

The third season of the Travel Channel's hit show Man vs. Food will begin airing June 16 at 9 p.m. eastern. According to the Travel Channel website, the season will kick off with foodie Adam Richman traveling to San Diego where he will take on a "massive surf-and-turf burrito, tender tri-tip barbecue, and the legendary Ironman Challenge at the Broken Yolk Café."

Ironman Challenge:
According to Broken Yolk Cafe, the Ironman Challenge, also known as the Broken Yolk Café Special, is served on a 15-inch pizza pan. It is an omelet made with a dozen eggs, mushrooms, onions, American cheese, and topped with chili and more cheese. On the other half of the pizza pan is a generous pile of homefries and two biscuits.

That's a lot of food!

Wing King Challenge:
Stay tuned, because at 9:30 p.m., Adam travels to Boulder, Colorado where he will meet up with the Wing King Challenge at West End Tavern. This challenge consists of 50 wings Adam will have to eat in 30 minutes. There are some rules such as all wings have to be clean with the bone visible and Adam will have to remain at the table. He can't even leave to go to the bathroom.

It's not yet known what the flavor of wings will be, nor is it known if these will be fiery hot as in other hot wing challenges.

If Adam win's this challenge, his photo will be added to the Wall of Fame, receive a members-only t-shirt, and a dozen wings (you know, in case he gets hungry later). Oh, and he'll get bragging rights.

Ninety people have attempted the Wing King Challenge and only fifteen have succeeded. Will Adam be among these elite souls? Something tells me he's going to pull it off.

Adam Richman's Previous Wing Challenges Include:
The Atomic Hot Wing Challenge - Quaker Steak & Lube in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania: Adam described the sensation on his face as being "the seventh circle of hell."

Suicide Wings Challenge:
Six Suicide Wings in six-minutes at the Buffalo Cantina - Brooklyn, New York: Adam Richman made his first attempt at the challenge in 2008. After one bite, he walked away in defeat.

Apparently, Richman returned to take on the challenge again. However, according to Eat Me Daily, the return may not have been completely on the up-and-up since it appears Richman actually took on six "less spicy" hot wings.

"The show made the restaurant's wing eating challenge easier by having Richman eat six less spicy wings," Eat Me Daily said.

"Stupid Wings" Challenge:
In addition to the Wing King Challenge, we will see Richman take on the "stupid wings" challenge at Caliente in Richmond, Virginia. In that episode, scheduled to air July 4, Richman will have to eat eight hot wings coated with a sauce containing capsaicin, the active component in chili peppers.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Man vs. Food and Adam Richman, but is there anything that he won't try? I'm always amazed at his challenges and even if he doesn't conquer some of them, he's a joy to watch and he's for real, eating foods that the average American would enjoy eating.

At the very least, Adam Richman introduces American's to food and restaurants that we, unless you are a local, wouldn't otherwise know existed. It's no wonder America loves Adam Richman and Man vs. Food.
