Manage Diabetes with Sugar Count Monitoring

Jim Posey
Diabetes is a blood sugar disease where your body doesn't quite use blood sugar correctly. Insulin is the culprit here. Type I diabetics don't produce insulin at all. It is vital to manage diabetes with sugar count monitoring because it gives you the necessary information to understand how much insulin you will need at any given time. Your health depends on keeping your insulin level at the proper rate.

Sugar count monitoring is extremely important with type 1 diabetes because the fluctuations are so intense and unpredictable a large amount of harm can occur if blood sugar is not properly kept tracked off. If left unmonitored, your insulin level will lead to many health complications including coma and death.

Symptoms of high Sugar Count

High blood sugar has many different symptoms on the body. Some symptoms are frequent urination and thirst. The thirst is caused by the loss of fluids through urination. You will also experience weight loss and general fatigue. If you are feeling a variety of these symptoms you will need to inject insulin in order to balance your blood sugar.

That it is not to say that getting a high level of blood sugar from time to time is cause for alarm. However, if your blood sugar is constantly high then you need to take the necessary steps to bring down your blood sugar level.

Symptoms of a Low Sugar Count.

A low blood sugar count or, hypoglycemia, occurs when the body processes carbohydrates that cause blood sugar to spike. The pancreas will react to this by compensating with a larger amount of insulin, way too much insulin. This will clear out the sugar in the blood and will cause a sudden drop in blood sugar levels. If you are suffering from low blood sugar you will feel hunger, along with mood swings, a loss of energy, and you will feel weakness.

Hypoglycemia is also defined by a release of coritsal, a hormone. This hormone will cause the body to destroy lean muscle mass ands raises the body's ability to store fat. Cortisol will actually begin to destroy the body's brain cells. This makes hypoglycemia a very threatening state and will require you to keep a watchful eye on your blood sugar level.

For diabetics, a blood sugar count can be done through the use of a lancet, a diabetic meter and a control solution. The lancet will draw the blood, the sample will be used to measure the sugar count and the meter will show a reading in numbers. Your doctor should show you the technique necessary to manage diabetes with Sugar Count Monitoring.
