Manchester is the silk city of England. This name for the city came from its original destination as an industrial town with many mills and industries manufacturing silk cloth. The present city of Manchester is well connected by road, rail and air. The airport is one of the most famous in Europe.

The Airport in Manchester is an international airport. It is the 12th busiest in Europe, and has handled a record of over 22 million passengers in 2005. The Manchester Airport is operated by a non profit organization which is made up of 10 Metropolitan Boroughs. The Airport is striving to become the world's best airport.

There are many attractions in the Airport which are detailed below

Passengers: The airport caters to all types of travelers from babies to corporate travelers

Leisure Facilities: There are many leisure facilities like shower and change which helps the passengers.
Shopping and services: The Airport provides tax free purchase which helps passengers in last minute purchase of essentials.

Spectator Terrace: The non-visiting passengers can see the take off and land of aircrafts from a special spectator terrace.

Viewing Park: The viewing park boasts of various aircrafts on display with Concorde, front portion of Monarch DC 10 and a fully restored BEA Hawker Siddeley Trident 3B. The concorde has a fully accessible flightdeck.

Tour Centre: this centre arranges special aviation videos and displays from airlines. Tours are available for educational groups of children above the age of four and also for public groups.
Other Attractions: The airport offers other attractions like informative visitor's centre, aviation shop and catering outlet which provide refreshments.

Rail and Road Connectivity: This airport is well connected to north and south England by trains. It is also well connected by local bus operators.
