Mandatory Swine Flu Vaccinations Coming for Everyone?

All these rumors and news blurbs about mandatory swine flu vaccinations made me take a look around to see just where the shots are mandatory in the US. While it does not appear to be prevalent, there are some places that make it a requirement to get the swine flu vaccination. There are also some protesting workers involved, but the majority of people are going along with it.

The United Sates military has already made it mandatory for every active duty soldier to get the H1N1 vaccination. All Marine, Air Force, Navy and Army personnel will get the swine flu shot. The shots are scheduled to begin sometime this month. Noncompliance is not an option in the military.

New York is the only state in the nation so far to require that all health care workers be vaccinated, though other states are dwelling on similar plans. All health care workers, including doctors must be immunized by Nov. 30. A lot of these workers are angry about the issue, citing concerns about residual vaccine injury. Other concerns are violations of personal privacy and deaths from the 1976 Federal Swine flu vaccination program.

The largest hospital in West Virginia gave all the workers an ultimatum: Get the shot or get another job. Charleston Area Medical Center wants about 6,000 workers immunized against seasonal flu to protect patients. In an AP article by Tom Breen he explains how it is rare for a hospital to do this, but it may become a lot more common. The hospital issue makes sense because these people may be dealing with the infected public on a daily basis.

Several other places around the country are making the shot mandatory , including the Marshfield Clinic, the University of Iowa Hospital, and the Nashville-based HCA hospital chain. So far it is just the military and some of the health care field making this vaccine mandatory. Whether or not this spreads out a lot farther remains to be seen.

There you go, there are already mandatory swine flu vaccinations in the United States. The only Federally mandated vaccines so far that I know of is the military. It looks as though these rumors are just rumors so far. However, i think that if the swine flu does get really bad, then there will be more mandatory locations showing up throughout the states.
