Mandee Clothing/Fashion Store in Shirley, Long Island

I used to love shopping at Mandee, and sometimes still find myself browsing their isles for gifts and clearance items. However my fun shopping days ends when I found out how shady their company was when it came to opening up a store account with them. I sort of steer clear of the store; however when I am out with girlfriends this seems to be the spot we always end up for some reason.

It really makes no sense, seeing how we always walk out with crap we don't need, and clothes that are poorly made and over priced, and a size too small, seeing how they never seem to have anything in a size over a 12. This store in my opinion is designed for thinner woman, and finding a larger size can at times be impossible, and annoying.

However Mandee is not all bad, the store is quite large, and sells a variety of things besides just clothing in sizes too small. Here at Mandee in Shirley, NY, you will come across tons of jewelery, bras, pajamas, underwear, dresses, prom dresses, toys for kids, clothing for dogs, dog collars, treats, and toys. In the back of the room to the right you will come across their clearance section. This section is usually why I stop in after holidays are over.

You can find all types of things to save as gifts for the next following year. Usually this isle is filled with holiday gifts such as Valentines Day candles, treats, and frames. You will also find other items from bubble bath gels, and powders. At times you may also find yummy scented body sprays.

The changing room here at Mandee is also very clean, and big, so there is room to move around and try things on. One thing I dislike though is the slit in the door. It's rather large, and easily someone can peep in at you changing. It makes you feel sort of uncomfortable, especially when the hanging room is over crowded and people are standing right out the door.

There is a bathroom here at Mandee, but the one time I asked to use it, I was denied. This really pissed me off seeing how I had just dropped nearly $150 on just a few pair of jeans. To know their is a bathroom, and then to be denied is just ridiculous. No 'out of order' came with the explanation...I got 'Customers are not allowed to use the bathroom.' Gee....umm...okay...

That's an issue I always have about Mandee, sometimes I am greeted by awesome employees who are helpful; and let you USE the bathroom; then other times I am greeted with a frown, eye roll, and attitude. It's always a guessing game on what type of service you will be receiving, and bad service can really ruin your time there.

The clothing that Mandee sells is always nice on the racks, but honestly, when you wash a shirt or pair of dress slacks a few times, there are strings hanging and the color fades. So really buying a pair of slacks here for $40.00 is just a waste. Go to Kohl's it's a walk away from Mandee, if you want nice dress pants. The jeans they sell are nicely made with no issues, however if you are over a size 12, good luck finding a larger pair. Like I said, this is a thin chicks store, and it will become obvious when you notice no larger sizes on the racks. Even a size XL shirt in this store is clearly not an XL.

Whenever I'm in the store usually I only pick up a cute outfit for my dog and a bra. The bras are reasonably priced, and the dog clothes are always half off.

One important thing to remember when checking out is to NOT sign up for an account. They will ask you with every purchase if you want to open an account. Do know that they will screw you over big time, and a $140 bill on a Mandee card easily becomes $300, seeing how they send out bills late, or not at all. Before you know it you have a late fee, and a lower credit score, so avoid opening an account with Mandee's.

Overall the store here is always neat, clean, and they sell some nice things, however most of their clothing is poorly made, and ruined once washed. A lot of their things are over priced, and the changing rooms although they are large, are not very private at all.

Other items you will find at Mandee include, watches, designer perfumes such as JLo, Estee Lauder, and more. You will also find socks, candy, belts, shoes, boots, and sandals, nail polish, lipstick/gloss, angry bunny items, purses, hats, gloves, and scarves.

My average shopping experience while here is about a 6. Although I do not recommend Mandee to those for going back to school sales, I do recommend you stop in and take a look at their holiday gift selections.
