All of the events that go on in the Louisiana Lagniappe Area, the kid and family activity center, benefits KidSense, a local non profit that builds school playgrounds for children with autism, ADHD, and their classmates and there is plenty going on.
There are special performances by Johnette Downing, who gets the audience involved in the songs, stories and songs from Papillion, a professional story teller and Paul DaleThere are contests, line dancing, games, Radio Disney, a sping in the Human Gyro, rock climbing, a tiger bounce for the toddlers, pony rides, a chance to meet two rescue dogs, a prize booth, Circus Train Crawl, Rock Wall Bungee Trampolines, Stilt Walkers and the Pirates Den Double Ob
Shade Tree Entertainment will be on hand with Dixieland jazz bands, children's folk guitarists, a string quartet and demonstrations by Louisiana Search and Rescue and you might even spot an Elvis or two.
Raffles and Silent Auction will be going on where you can win things like Saints and LSU tickets and signed memorabilia, handmade Louisiana-flavored jewelry; several "Night on the Town" packages his and hers spa packages; and who knows what else.
Learn about the Native American experience from Tom "Strong Buffalo" Varnado with his stories of Native American folklore and tribal culture with kids of all ages and go inside a tipi for a look at authentic Native American crafts.
The musical talent this year includes performers like Mark Chesnutt, Sammy Kershaw, Christian Serpas & Ghost Town, Jon Gill, Rick, Ricky and Friends, Coscino, Bout It Brass Band, Clockwerk, No Idea, Four Unplugged, The Boogiemen, Mike Epstein, SoulScript, Abita Blues BandCrescent City Classic with Cowboy Mouth,Redline, Band Camp, Soul Revival, Supercharger Bag of Donuts, Ched Reeves, Detective Fish, Blues Station, The Radiators,,The Top Cats and Five Finger Discount.
AS for the food, there will be 20 different venders serving not only seafood, but other Louisiana Specialities as well. For the shoppers, there will be an antique and arts and crafts exhibit and of course the big July 4th fireworks show.
