The Mandeville Seafood Festival is the oldest festival in Tammany Parish having started in 1978 and is the official festival for the State of Louisiana. The festival moved to Fontainebleau State Park, an area large enough for more vendors, more activities and more entertainment. It is also a cool location, which is not easy to find in Louisiana in the summer. The festival is a combination of a July 4th celebration, all kinds of music and plenty of food and things to do.

All of the events that go on in the Louisiana Lagniappe Area, the kid and family activity center, benefits KidSense, a local non profit that builds school playgrounds for children with autism, ADHD, and their classmates and there is plenty going on.

Shade Tree Entertainment will be on hand with Dixieland jazz bands, children's folk guitarists, a string quartet and demonstrations by Louisiana Search and Rescue and you might even spot an Elvis or two.

Raffles and Silent Auction will be going on where you can win things like Saints and LSU tickets and signed memorabilia, handmade Louisiana-flavored jewelry; several "Night on the Town" packages his and hers spa packages; and who knows what else.

Learn about the Native American experience from Tom "Strong Buffalo" Varnado with his stories of Native American folklore and tribal culture with kids of all ages and go inside a tipi for a look at authentic Native American crafts.
