Manga Review: Girl Saurus

Shingo Chiryu, a school boy, has a traumatic event in his life that has left him with a fear of all women. He is invited, by a note, to meet a girl in a secluded spot. He goes to the rendezvous with thoughts of a gorgeous girl in his mind. When he arrives he is faced with a grossly fat girl and his reaction is revulsion. He rejects her when she takes off her clothes and cries, "Help". This is not at all what the girl had in mind and she responds by beating him insensible, putting him in the hospital for a month. When he recovers, he is left with a fear of all women, which he won't admit to because he doesn't want people to know that he was beat up on by a girl.

He decides to work out his issues by getting involved in sports. One after another, he sees that the various sports are not for him until he finally decides on boxing. Unfortunately, in his view at least, the boxing club is for girls only. The school nurse, who has discovered his problem, accepts him into the boxing club as a way for him to get over his phobia. He is now the only boy in an all-girl boxing club. The main characters are:

Haruka, the girl who beat up on him. She joined the club to work out her anger and frustrations after she was rejected by Shingo. She went on a whirlwind diet and exercise program and is now absolutely drop-dead gorgeous. All the guys in the school are hot for her except Shingo, who is afraid of girls.

Hijiri, the school nurse and sponsor of the boxing club. She is beautiful and sadistic.

Senpai, a girl who is a tomboy, but comes from a very traditional and wealthy family. She just wants to be buddies with Shingo, but she is very open with her body, which makes him nervous.

Nozomi, an underdeveloped girl who is immediately attracted to Shingo. She openly pursues him, to no avail, by showing her panties at every opportunity.

Hoshigaoka, a transfer student who is very clumsy. She is big-breasted and forgetful. Her chest is so large that she is often unbalanced and falling down, showing her panties unintentionally. It's not unusual for her to lose her skirt, or even her panties, and not notice it.

Tsuramai, the most beautiful girl in the school. They call her the Madonna. She would like to add one more to her list of conquests.

Subaru, the younger sister of Shingo. She misses the good times she had with her older brother, but she is becoming a young woman and is, therefore, a threat to Shingo.

Arahata, a guy who is attracted to fat girls and is constantly trying to get Haruka to get fat again.

Tsubasa, a guy who is so cute and effeminate that most people mistake him for a girl. He has a crush on Nazomi, but she only wants Shingo.

There are other characters as well. Hijiri has an infant niece, who is already on the prowl, Haruka has a younger sister and an older one, there is the nurse at the hospital, and a skinny, ugly girl who has her sights on Shingo, and then there is the leader of the all-girl gang at the school.

As of this writing, it looks like Shingo is about to overcome his phobia, in favor of Haruka, but there are several unresolved story threads at this point. For a guy, this is a very entertaining manga and I'm glad I found it. There's a lot of soft-core involved and the artist is gifted. The title comes from Shingo's point of view. To him, girls are monsters to be avoided because they can only bring pain. Therefore, all girls are dinosaurs and should be avoided whenever possible. For him though, it's seldom possible. He cares about these friends he has found and this often lands him in situations that the rest of the male population can only dream about. I hope the author will continue the series and that she brings it to a happy conclusion.
