Mangle: A Different Approach to Web Surfing

Roberk
I was internet surfing the other day and just by chance I ran across a website called "Mangle". www.mangle.ca is website that randomly pulls up websites for you to see, at the click of a button, and touts that a person could explore billions of website by using the generator. It caught my attention and I spent quite a long time there, looking around.

One of the first things I noticed about Mangle was that you could customize the random link generator several ways. The options available were random web pages, random personal homepages, random pictures and random archived pages. When you click on random web pages, you get to choose more options. These are: choice of language, choice of country and you can even add key words to your random searches. I typed in the word "list", so every page that came up had the word list in it or had a list of things within the page.

A lot of the web pages I saw using the Random Webpage generator were business oriented. There were so many types of business pages it pulled up, I lost count. I did enjoy using the options on that search.

The personal homepage random search was really wild. It's always so interesting to see what people make their web pages about, the types of pictures they post and their layouts.

Many of these WebPages were on geocities, tripod, etc....they were not professional websites, by any means. These types of pages are the ones I love. To see what so and so dressed like at Halloween, 2004, pictures of their pets and such trivia, really seem to humanize the internet, to me.

When I tried the archived generator, it bought up many types of websites from years gone by. These were on all different subjects and in no type of order. It's kind of neat, if you are into internet history.

Lastly, I clicked on the random picture generator. It is through a web site called Livejournal, and it randomly shows the last 25 pictures loaded on that site. It specifically gives a warning to enter at your own risk, as the pictures on livejournal are not monitored in any way. I lucked out and only pictures of a farm loaded!

If you are tired of the regular web surfing, you might want to give this mangle.ca a try. It has some great options available that might take you to some little known corner of the internet. Happy surfing!
