Manitowoc's Hong Kong Buffet Serves Great Chinese in Meat & Potatoes State
Best Kept Secret in Northeast Wisconsin
Manitowoc, WI 54220
The buffet opened in January, 2001 and it wasn't long before it became a favorite of the locals. With more than 80 piping-hot selections, fresh fruit dishes and a combination of desserts (including soft serve ice cream), the food attracts people from as far as Green Bay, Appleton and Fond Du Lac. Most hear of the buffet through word-of-mouth, not advertising, so don't be surprised if you don't see billboards or flashing signs leading you to their doorstep.
The customer service is unbeatable for two reasons. First, the staff will remember your name if you drop in more than a couple of times. Second, they will remember what you like to drink and where you like to be seated. It may not seem like a big deal, but when you're rushing in from a blizzard for a bite to eat, it sure feels nice to be welcomed personally.
There are a lot of windows so you can watch the traffic go by or gaze out toward the old stone court house across the street. Bring a book and you'll enjoy frequent beverage top-ups while you catch up on your reading. They'll never give you any pressure to clear the table, since there's usually ample seating for everyone.
Whether you're heading north to Door County or South to Milwaukee, a stop over in Manitowoc is an easy habit to fall into. If you don't have time to sit and eat, carry out is available. Children under 3 always eat for free and a 15% discount is automatic for those over 65 or under 10. Reservations are not only accepted for bigger families or functions, they're encouraged.
You'll find the buffet at 908 Washington Street in downtown Manitowoc. Hours are from 11am - 10pm Monday to Saturday and 11:30am - 9:30pm on Sunday. If you have any questions or need to make reservations, give them a ring at 920-682-1181 or fax them at 920-682-1630.
NOTE: If you get lost in Manitowoc, head toward the huge cans of Budweiser -- no tourist can miss them. Then hang a left on Washington Street just before the street dead ends at the foot of the beer cans. The buffet is right on the corner.
