Manmade Ingredients

T
Well it may just be a, ME issue. I am still not getting the hype of sugar-free/low calories sweeteners like stevia, splenda and the old ones like sweet n low--a yucko for that one! From what I have read, which is limited so I'm not an expert here....is that they are man-made, right??? so what's so natural-like about them? They are formed from potions and chemicals in a laboratory. My point...the lastest hidden food item that I consumed lately had sorbitol in it. I am alot better at reading food labels these days, ingredients, calorie count etc. I LOVE my girl scout cookies and I was really shocked that they now put cheapy substitutions (sp) in their cookies.

I don't ever recall these happenings before. And basically for the majority of food items in general there sneaky and hidden...ex: "less than 2% of sorbitol" Those ingredients were in my girl scout cookies, uugh! And there not necessarily in pre-packaged foods any longer (I'm sure this isn't news to a lot of you) but nonetheless why my girl scout cookies. It was the first bite of my then yummy samoas that I got a bad after taste and felt like I was biting into something granulated, but not "real sugar". It sorta didn't melt in my mouth, it was more like a crunch, crunch issue going on. I already go organic and go to farmers markets as much as possible. When I can afford it!

I'm just not accepting how these...sugar-free, low cal etc. are saying this is the healthier alternative. Because too me that's the furthest from the truth. You might as well pick up a cancer stick aka: cigarette... instead....

Thank you ladies and gents for your time...
