Manny is the Filipino people's champ. He personifies the dream that people wanted to reach. Manny seems to be indefatigable on the ring.
But he really should stick to boxing.
In the 2007 elections, Manny tried his hand in politics when he was used...i mean asked by the administration to run as congressman in General Santos. And it seems that he also wants to run again in the 2010 elections.
I am pro-Manny...as a boxer. I root for him all the way. When during those times when other people doubted if Manny could still win, I defended him in conversations and even prayed for his victories. He is a Filipino and I want Filipinos to win. I don't bet, I just feel proud not only about Manny's winnings but more because of his abilities. He seems to get better and better each fight. And he has proven his worth in the ring by earning the titles in several weight divisions.
But please, somebody should talk some sense into Manny. First of all, instead of politics, he should focus his efforts in boxing. Second, instead of gambling in billiards and cockfighting, Manny should be investing his money where it will grow, as boxing is a sport that requires the full capacities of the body and we could not tell how long Manny will remain in that state. Thirdly and most importantly, he should give his attention to his family. He is away for a long time during his training and getting into politics would just mean more time away from his family. His kids are already growing and he needs to spend more time with them.
Manny doesn't need to earn more money by fighting. He needs to make the money that he has grow.
And for the sake of his dignity, it is best that Manny Pacquaio should stay away for politics. I respect him as a boxer, but he really should know his place. He should not let people just talk him to do just about anything. He has already tried the race once and he lost.
So Manny, please, stay away from politics. You are more effective as a boxer than a politician.
