Manny Ramirez is easily one of the MLB's most dominant players. Despite his dominance though, he is also one of the MLB's biggest characters as well. Partly due to his silly antics, he was traded away from Boston Red Sox to the Los Angeles Dodgers at the 2008 MLB trade deadline. Manny Ramirez Biography: Indians

Manny Ramirez was born Manuel Aristides Ramirez Onelcida in the Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He was selected by the Cleveland Indians in the first round of the 1991 MLB Entry Draft. He was a superior hitter with the Indians, as he hit 45 home runs and batted in 165 in two different seasons there.

Manny Ramirez Biography: 2001-2002

2001 was Manny Ramirez's first season with the Boston Red Sox. His total contract was a unprecedented 200 million over ten years, including all bonuses. His statistics, like his Indians years, were incredible, batting in 125 while hitting 41 taters. In 2002, Ramirez competed in 120 games but won the batting title nonetheless.

2003 was the first sighting of Manny Ramirez's antics, as he was benched for a game by Red Sox manager Grady Little after being spotted in a bar (instead of being on the playing field). He had a fairly decent offensive season, but was placed on waivers at the end of the season because his contract was excessive.

In 2004, Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz became two of the MLB's most feared hitters. Each of them hit 40 home runs and drove in an incredible amount of RBIs for the Red Sox. Ramirez was also named the World Series MVP, as the Red Sox broke their long-held curse.

Manny Ramirez Biography: 2005-2006

In 2005, Manny had another solid season, but trade rumors plagued his play almost the entire year. At the end of the season, Ramirez asked to be traded, but no trade came of his demands. The Chicago White Sox won the World Series that year (Boston was eliminated in the first round). During these two years, Ramirez hit his 2000th hit and 450th career HR.

Manny Ramirez Biography: 2007-Today

Ramirez was part of the 2007 Boston Red Sox World Series team, and contributed a great deal to their success. In 2008, he spent the first half of the season with the Red Sox before being traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers at the trade deadline. He is currently helping the Dodgers achieve 2008 playoff status!
