We didn't invent the condom because more and more people were having more casual sex on a regular basis. We invented the condom to help control the spread of sexually transmitted diseases. The number of diseases increased, increasing the spread of STDs, and with this created a need and demand for a form of protection. Thus, the condom was born. It also had the benefit of being a way to control population increase.
Casual sex has been a part of human nature from the beginning. It in one way or another was a big help in the formation of an educational system. This was seen in Ancient Greece. To deal with overpopulation, boys were assigned to older men as their mentors. The older men taught the male children, and the boys were a way for the men to fulfill their sexual desires. This seems cruel and unusual for today's terms, but it was determined to be the most logical and effective form of population control by the Grecians at the time. Many great discoveries came from the mentor-boy relations of that time, because the boys usually grew up furthering or disproving their mentors as seen in Aristotle and Plato.
Now, condoms are highly effective, when used intelligently and often, in controlling both population and the spread of STDs. Although STDs are still a big problem, we are constantly getting closer and closer to cures. People that do not use condoms regularly are putting themselves at risk for many dangerous or unwanted outcomes. I would only advise not using them with your wife or when you really are ready to have a baby with that special girl.
