1. Texting & talking on the cellphone while driving: This annoying habit can become very dangerous out there on our roads. Although there are the laws against this in many states, people continue to text and talk on their cellphones while operating motor vehicles. Many accidents have been caused and lives have been lost by this annoying cellphone habit. The best way to stop this bad habit is not to have the cellphone on your person while driving. You can have it within hearing distance and if you get a call while driving, let it go into voice-mail. If the call needs your immediate attention, pull off the road and return the call.
2. Using your cellphone at the dining table: I think this is very rude, especially if it's just two people dining together. I have seen this annoying cellphone habit going on frequently when we've been out to dinner. There's a couple with a nice dinner and possibly a bottle of wine set before them and one of the two is talking on his or her cellphone. To avoid this bad habit, I suggest have the cellphone turned off while dining. If you are expecting a call or want to check for any messages on your cellphone, excuse yourself after you're done dining and go to a lobby or restroom to make any urgent calls. This is matter of politeness for both you and your partner, I feel.
3. Allowing children to have total access to cellphones: I feel it's okay for your child to have a cellphone with them for contacting individuals if they should need a ride or be picked up from somewhere when they've completed their daily activities, if they're in an emergency situation, or they just want to call grandma or a friend now and then. I don't think they need to be bringing cellphones into a classroom or should be allowed to spend hours talking on it for no reason at all. I may be considered "old fashioned" for saying this, but I feel young children should have restrictions on their cellphone use.
4. Using cellphones during working hours: Although most places restrict cellphone use during working hours if it's not business related, it does go on. I have seen cellphone misuse a number of times where I work. An example is a nurses aid goes into a patients room and uses her cellphone for personal calls rather then tending to the resident in the facility. Yes, they have been reprimanded for this, but if they weren't allowed to carry that cellphone on their person while they're working, this wouldn't be happening.
5. Cellphone use at public events: I came to a concert or other public event to be entertained by the guest speaker or musician, not to listen to ringing cellphones and other peoples cellphone conversations. Again I know there are restrictions on using cellphones during a lot of public events, but it does happen and it's very disrespectful, to say the least, in my opinion. If an individual uses their cellphones during these types of events, I feel they should be asked to leave if the cellphone's use was suppose to be restricted at the event.
I think cellphones are very hand gadgets in this modern society when used properly. You can take and receive pictures with them, use them for surfing the Internet, text, make and receive phone calls etc. It's when they're misused that they become annoying.

Post a CommentYes, it is rude to talk on the cellphone at the dinner table. Sometimes we allow cellphones to rule us, rather than us ruling our cellphones. Great observations here.
I think they are the worst thing ever invented. I am so tired of hearing everyone's conversations! Privfacy means nothing anymore.
I completely agree with all of these!
