The returns started a couple years or so back.
Characters such as Tony and Anna Dimera; Steve and Kayla Johnson; Carly Manning, Lawrence Alamain, Vivian Alamain, Shane Donovan, Justin and Adrian Kirakis and Calliope Jones Bradford are just some of the characters that have returned in the past couple of seasons.
I have watched Days dating back to the 70s.
Through the years I watched the show go from one of the top soaps on television to one of the silliest and now hopefully it is on its way back to the top.
I think the decline of the show started with the possessed Marlena story line. All though it was entertaining to see Marlena with green eyes, the whole idea was bizarre.
Another ratings crasher was when Days killed John Black.
For those who don't know the history.
Roman Brady was presumed dead once upon a time.
Then a guy showed up that looked nothing like Roman and was Roman.
After a few years and a baby, oh and Marlena disappearing and reappearing, the real Roman returned and the other Roman found out he was now John Black. Later he would learn that he was the nephew of Vivian Alamain.
Anyway, in recent times, John died and the fans objected. So soon John was alive but not well.
Currently, he and Marlena are off working on his recovery.
Since they departed many have reappeared and according to information on the Internet, more are coming.
Some of the returns will probably be for a tribute to the late Francis Reid, also known as Alice Horton.
Reid passed away in February.
Whatever the case, the talent and the story line twists that some of these returns have brought are a plus for the show.
Despite the fact that Bo and Hope are probably destined to be together again, one has to like the twist that Carly adds especially with Vivian lurking around waiting to bury her alive again.
This week Shane Donovan returned. He is stuck in a foreign prison with Rafe Hernandez.
Only time will tell if the two will escape, find their way back to Salem opening another return for Kimberly, who reappears ever now and then anyway.
In any event, this is one fan that is enjoying the blasts from the past and looks forward to more returns.

Post a Commentwatched general hospital with my grandmom in the 70's. have no knowledge since those times.
I have not watched soap operas since the 70's. When I was in college, we went to the student lounge everyday at 12 noon to watch All My children. The Soap Opera that made Susan Lucci.
I remember my aunt watching this back in the 70's. I'd probably recognize a few of these!
I don't think anyone but a true fan of the show could have remembered all these plot twists, let alone written about it. That made it more fun to read :)
