Many Internet Businesses Lack Anti Virus Protection

More to Think About Concerning Cyber Threat

carol gibson
A three dimensional world event, such as protests with gatherings of flesh and blood humans, transfers to that which is unseen - cyber attacks.

Cyber attacks caught many of the companies operating in cyberspace with their virtual pants down. It is estimated that only one third of the major corporate operations on the net have invested in sufficient protective software.

These unprotected companies have made it easier for cyber attacks to be successful.

The virtual world protesters go for the jugular vein. Attacking banking institutions first, the cyber protests do serious damage.

More than just the banking institutions, the everyday bank patron is subjected to the exposure of passwords, and other private information.

If not anti virus software, what are the priorities?

Investments are typically geared toward promotion and sales. Money spent on easily available protective programs is the lesser consideration for many prominent corporations.

As banking institutions made the shift to cyber world, access to private information has never been so vulnerable. More than trusting the folks that are handling business affairs of the John Q. Citizen's, John Q. must trust that the institution has a certain degree of sophistication insofar as the internet is concerned.

In lieu of the recent cyber wars, the pre cyber world confidence factor evidently doesn't transfer to the electronic age.

Training and education of bank personnel doesn't really require a lot of technical savvy on the part of these not so well paid workers. This is true all the way up through local management.

Moreover, as mentioned, the investment in protective measures hasn't been regarded as a priority as opposed to new investment sales. Change, in the larger picture, has a slower adaptation in the real time, three dimensional worlds.

Computerization reduces the good old face to face interaction with whom a transaction is being made. In turn, the mindset that's required to adapt to the millisecond cyber environment is slow to develop.

Of most recent problems, cyber attacks. . . "are carried out by botnets -- computer viruses that use multiple computers to request information from a website at the same time. The sheer volume of requests at any given moment is what denies service from regular users."

Botnets are a common, though unapproved tool used by merchandisers in the effort of increasing sales. At this juncture, the same botnets are easily used for deliberately destructive purposes.

The trusted institutions, notwithstanding other economic let downs, need to prioritize a little better than they have been. The goal of bottom line mentality seems to have backfired in the case of recent cyber attacks.

Michelle and Zona, Though I appreciate and respect your input, I don't agree. Anyone, with a slight amount of internet savvy can learn botnets. I feel that the most ignorant people are the ones who are most capable of this kind of hatefulness. BTW; At this time, the perpetrator of the cyber attack is being summoned for extradition in a case of child molestation.

Always remember to dowload the latest version of both anti-virus and anti-spyware programs. And if you have a PC, delete the Microsoft security and get something that works better. Unfortuately, just about ANY other anti-virus program works better than Microsoft's.

I have to agree with Michele's comments. Great minds that turn evil could have done so much good :) Great info and article ♥

Isn't it sad that all of the intellect that goes into developing computer viruses could have probably found a cure for cancer by now!?! cheers
