Many Mistakes Can Be Made when You Are Purchasing a Used Car
Considering a New Car Versus a Used One Can Be Exciting and Scary All at Once
The best trick I have learned is to create a list and document the things that you like and the things that you dislike about the information on the fly. You can learn more about a specific model on-line or by visiting a dealership which has one of these cars that you like on his lot!
Creating a uniform check list is a great first step towards making a wise used car purchasing decision. This list does not offer anything that most people have not already thought about, but I am using it to demonstrate what a good clean finish really looks like!
When we show up at a car lot to check out their used cars the dealership is very interested in knowing exactly what the car you have chosen is going to be used for.
So there are some serious mistakes that we can make when we let our sentimental selves get in the way of logic, here I will attempt to detail which specific conditions tend to grab my attention.
Broken Glass
Never buy a used or new car that has any broken glass. It is not legal in many states to ignore the fact that the glass is cracked or broken. So you will have to make sure the glass is all in great shape.
Tires
Make sure the tires are road worthy and they have at least a year left on them. This can be a very costly job for you to replace your tires inside the first year of ownership. If they are that worn out you should try and get some relief from the dealer. Most of the tire money could come from that!
LEAKS?
Do not assume that the one tiny drip of trans fluid coming from the drive-train will go ahead and heal itself. It is pointless for you to check it. The dealer can usually get these small leaks fixed while you are doing the sales paperwork.
When to go check the car out?
If you are going to visit any of the cars that you are interested in, and there is something wrong with the angle of the sun, you may not tough it out and get to feeling back! The Worst time to visit the dealership would be in the evening where the natural light is gone. Go when the sun is out, preferably when it is high in the sky.
Taking along an advisor?
Having a friend tag along when you go to check out used cars is going to be problematic as they will almost always try to sway you toward the one model that they feel is the best. An open minded person can help you way more than that.
Too tired to shop around for the best deal?
There are usually a good number of used auto dealers around town which can help you find the best deals on that special model you were hoping to find for cheap and in town! Remember don't panic since there will always be more used cars coming next week!
