Many Uses for Hydrogen Peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide is a great wound cleaner, but did you know it can be used around your house for cleaning? Here are a few tips to clean using Hydrogen Peroxide.

Use in the laundry:

Add one cup of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide to your load of white clothes to whiten them. This replaces the use of bleach in your laundry.

Peroxide works great on blood stains. Poor 3 percent hydrogen peroxide directly onto blood stains, allow it to sit for a few minutes and then wash. This works best if used on blood stains that are fresh, not older than two days.

When using hydrogen peroxide in the laundry, you will always want to test a small area of the fabric you are washing because peroxide can stain some colored fabrics.

Use 2 cups of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide in an empty cycle in your washer to clean and keep down on any mold or mildew growths in you washer.

Using a spray bottle filled with 3 percent hydrogen peroxide, spray down the outside of your washer to keep it clean. Simply spray the outside and wipe down with a clean cloth.

Hampers can get pretty nasty after a while of holding dirty clothes. Spray the inside of your hamper with 3 percent hydrogen peroxide, allow to sit for ten minutes and then rinse out you hamper. This cuts down on the amount of bacteria that grows in your hamper from all the dirty clothes.

Use in the Bathroom:

Fill a spray bottle with 3 percent hydrogen peroxide and spray the walls of your shower. Then scrub the walls and rinse. This will leave your shower walls clean and free of soap scum. You should do this once a week to maintain the cleanliness of your shower.

Using your spray bottle filled with 3 percent hydrogen peroxide, spray down the counter tops in your bathroom and then wipe clean.

To clean mirrors spray them down and wipe clean. This will leave your mirrors clean and streak free.

Poor one cup full of hydrogen peroxide in your toilet and then scrub. This works great for the "ring around the toilet". If the stains are tough to remove, use 2 cups of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide and allow it to sit overnight. In the morning scrub the toilet again and flush. This is safe for households that have septic tanks.

Using your spray bottle, spray the rest of the toilet surfaces and wipe clean with a sponge or a clean cloth. Your toilet can be a breeding ground for bacteria, and the Hydrogen peroxide is a great way to cut down on all that nasty bacteria.

Soak your toothbrush in a cup filled with 3 percent hydrogen peroxide. This will kill the bacteria and germs that are hiding in the bristles of your brush. You should soak it for about five minutes and then rinse it out well.

To clean dentures use a solution of half water and half 3 percent hydrogen peroxide. Put this mixture in a bowl, place the dentures in, and soak over night. You can also clean retainers this way.

For a cheap and effective mouthwash, use a cap full of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide and swish around your mouth for thirty seconds, then spit out. Be careful not to swallow any. Using this as a mouthwash will also whiten your teeth over time.

Hydrogen peroxide is a great mold and mildew killer. Use 3 percent hydrogen peroxide on any part of your bathroom that may have mold or mildew. Spray the area, then allow it to sit for ten minutes. After the ten minutes wipe clean with a sponge or clean cloth.

Uses in the kitchen:

Using spray bottle filled with 3 percent hydrogen peroxide, spray down all counter tops in your kitchen and then wipe clean.

To clean the floors in your kitchen, use one cup of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide to one gallon of hot water.

After using your cutting board, poor or spray 3 percent hydrogen peroxide onto the cutting board to clean off any bacteria, then rinse.

Add 1/2 cup of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide to your dish water for cleaner dishes.

Add 2 tablespoons of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide to your dishwasher for cleaner dishes and a cleaner dishwasher.

Using your spray bottle, spray down the inside of your refrigerator to kill bacteria, and keep your fridge smelling fresh.

Use 3 percent hydrogen peroxide to wash off raw meat before cooking it.

Spray your fruits and vegetables before eating them. Using the spray bottle filled with 3 percent hydrogen peroxide, spray your fruits and veggies, allow it to sit for a few minutes and then rinse before eating. Doing this cuts down on the amount of bacteria.f

Clean out your kitchen trash cans, diaper pails and any other trash cans. Simply spray down the trash can with 3 percent hydrogen peroxide, allow to soak and then rinse clean.

You can use 3 percent peroxide to clean out your coffee pot. Poor a small amount of peroxide into your coffee pot and swirl around to remove stains in your pot.

Uses around the house:

Use 3 percent hydrogen peroxide to remove stains from your carpet. Poor the peroxide directly onto the stain and allow it to sit for five minutes, then put a clean cloth over the stain and pat until all the liquid is in the cloth. For tough stains all the peroxide to sit for longer.

To clean out cat litter boxes, use one cup of hydrogen peroxide, poor into cat box and fill the rest of the way with hot water. Allow this to sit for a few minutes and then rinse out well. This cuts down on the odor in the cat box and kills the bacteria.

Spray 3 percent hydrogen peroxide on children's toys to disinfect them. Simply spray the toy and wipe clean. Children's toys can carry a lot of bacteria and this is a safe and non-toxic way to clean their toys.

Using your spray bottle filled with 3 percent hydrogen peroxide, spray cribs, children's beds and other surfaces in children's rooms to keep them bacteria free. Spray the surface to be cleaned and wipe clean with a clean cloth. This is especially great to clean "sick" rooms.

To clean out humidifiers use a mixture of 1 tablespoon 3 percent hydrogen peroxide to one gallon of water.

You can use peroxide as a facial cleaner. Dampen a cotton ball with 3 percent hydrogen peroxide and rub on face avoiding the eyes.

Using a Q-tip dipped in 3 percent hydrogen peroxide, clean the outside of your cell phone to kill bacteria and have a clean phone. You can also use this to clean your keyboard on your computer.
