Maple Honey Glazed Mixed Nuts with Cinnamon and Cloves

Susan Kaul
Prep time: 5 minutes
Bake time: 12-15 minutes
Cooling time: 30 minutes
  • ½ cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon cloves
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups mixed nuts
  1. In a medium size bowl combine the maple syrup, honey, cinnamon, cloves, salt and vanilla.
  2. Add the mixed nuts, stir well. You want all the nuts to be well coated on all sides.
  3. Line a rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil and spray with non stick cooking spray
  4. Spread the nut mixture out on the prepared baking sheet. In a single layer.
  5. Bake in a preheated 350 degree F oven for 12 to 15 minutes, stirring every 4 minutes or so. You want all sides to get hot and bubbly and toasted.
  6. The walnuts are ready when the maple glaze is bubbly. Remove them from the oven and allow to cool completely

I use walnuts, almonds, cashews, pecans and peanuts. Those are my favorite nuts. Use what ever you like or just use one kind of nut.

Then let your imagination go wild. These are great as snacks by themselves, or add them to some prepared granola mix, or put them on top of ice cream, or use them as salad toppings. You are only limited by how fast you and your family eat them as to whether you will do anything creative with them. You may just have to keep making them batch after batch. They don't last long.

These also have the added bonus of being healthy for you. Lots of Omega 3s and monounsaturated (good) fats.

I tried and tried to use the recipe format, and it just wouldn't work, so I just put the recipe here.

This sounds nice! What I like even more than the recipe itself is the technique you used. I'm embarrassed to admit I thought you would need some kind of thickener to make this. It's the heat that evaporates the moisture, turning the sugary glaze into something near solid, right? I learned something new here.
