To put it short, MP Eater steals MP from the monsters you kill. That is, every monster has a certain amount of MP and when you use your spell on them, you get a chance of sucking some of that MP out of them. There is a certain percentage that decides how often you will "get lucky", and I'll show that in a chart below.
MP Eater is an excellent skill. It saves you lots of money and is passive so you can sit back and watch it work as you are killing. On some monsters and levels you can train without filling up your MP at all, because the amount of MP that you get back is more than you put in. This is dependent on how much MP the monster has, but also how many skill points you have put in it. To watch a complete reference of monsters and their descriptions I recommend going to www.hidden-street.net . That way you can see which monsters have the most MP, and train there if you want to save money.
When I first started playing I didn't realize the importance of MP Eater. However, after a while I was astonished by how big a difference it makes. This skill should be maxed! If you are training at low-MP monsters such as Lorangs etc. you will not get much MP back at all. In this situation you should think ahead though, because eventually you'll be able to move onto higher monsters with higher MP. I would however suggest that if you want to train at lorangs for a long time, you max other skills before MP Eater. Plan ahead and have MP Eater maxed when you move on to high-MP monsters.
The chart for MP Eater is here:
1. For every attack, 11% success rate, absorb 21% of the enemy's MaxMP
2. For every attack, 12% success rate, absorb 22% of the enemy's MaxMP
3. For every attack, 13% success rate, absorb 23% of the enemy's MaxMP
4. For every attack, 14% success rate, absorb 24% of the enemy's MaxMP
5. For every attack, 15% success rate, absorb 25% of the enemy's MaxMP
6 For every attack, 16% success rate, absorb 26% of the enemy's MaxMP
7. For every attack, 17% success rate, absorb 27% of the enemy's MaxMP
8. For every attack, 18% success rate, absorb 28% of the enemy's MaxMP
9. For every attack, 19% success rate, absorb 29% of the enemy's MaxMP
10. For every attack, 20% success rate, absorb 30% of the enemy's MaxMP
11. For every attack, 21% success rate, absorb 31% of the enemy's MaxMP
12. For every attack, 22% success rate, absorb 32% of the enemy's MaxMP
13. For every attack, 23% success rate, absorb 33% of the enemy's MaxMP
14. For every attack, 24% success rate, absorb 34% of the enemy's MaxMP
15. For every attack, 25% success rate, absorb 35% of the enemy's MaxMP
16. For every attack, 26% success rate, absorb 36% of the enemy's MaxMP
17. For every attack, 27% success rate, absorb 37% of the enemy's MaxMP
18. For every attack, 28% success rate, absorb 38% of the enemy's MaxMP
19. For every attack, 29% success rate, absorb 39% of the enemy's MaxMP
20. For every attack, 30% success rate, absorb 40% of the enemy's MaxMP
From the chart we can read that with one point in MP Eater you have 11 % chance of stealing 21 % of the monster's MP. So with just one point you get a one in a ten chance of getting a fifth of your monster's MP, that's not too bad in itself. When you get it maxed however you will get back almost half of the monster's MP 30% of the times.
Every magician who wants free MP should absolutely max this one. It is an extremely useful skill, and once you distribute those points you won't ever have to do anything with MP Eater again. This skill gives you free MP.
