March Apple Update

Roy
For those of who haven't recently kept up with Apple updates, Apple just refreshed its entire line of Mac desktops and peripherals. So, what changed?

Updates

- 24 inch iMac starting at $1499 (20 inch prices at $1199).

- New Mac Minis with 5 USB ports and improved performance ($599 & $799).

- New Mac Pros with the highly anticipated Nehalem processors ($2499 Quad-Core & $3299 8-Core).

- All Mac computers are now "environmentally green" earning the ENERGY STAR certification and EPEAT Gold rating.

- The Airport Extreme Base Station now has simultaneous dual-band Wi-Fi (you can now share your iPhone and Mac's internet without losing speed) and guest networking.

- The Time Capsule also got simultaneous dual-band Wi-Fi and guest networking (prices and storage is still $299 for 500GB & $499 for 1TB).

Recap

Not much has changed physically for the Macs besides being built out of environmentally green materials, new specs, and having rearragned ports. The additions to the Airport Extreme Base Station and Time Capsule seem to be the only decent updates that may convince some to finally purchase one. However, the 24 inch iMac starting at $1499 is an awesome deal as well. Another thing to note is that the new Macs come shipped with a smaller keyboard, essentially the small wireless keyboard with a wire. To get the full size keyboard, it must be selected with your order but will come at no extra charge.
