Marcos White Cheezy Pizza: Food Review

Julie Boehlke
If you have a Marco's Pizza nearby, you know they have some of the best tasting pizza around. By combining only the freshest, quality ingredients with superior taste, Marco's is clearly one of the top rated pizza chains in the U.S.

Many of their recipes are original and derived from homemade dough prepared fresh daily by an authentic Italian family recipe.

Recently, Marco's introduced their new creation called the White Cheezy pizza (yes, Marco's spells it with a z!) customers later voted it in as being their best tasting pizza.

The pizza is a scrumptious concoction of a butter garlic crust, a blend of white cheeses including mozzarella, white cheddar, parmesan and feta. Bacon, sausage, onion and tomato make up the remaining toppings all with a zesty, light pizza sauce underneath.

There is an overload of ingredients when you first bite into this pizza. The combination of all of the flavors and taste creates the perfect pizza concoction.

Even though their pizza is top notch, their prices tend to be slightly higher than their competitors and other pizza chains across the country. While it is worth it to buy this one-of-a-kind pizza, you can also make a similar pizza pie at home.

If you would like to recreate this scrumptious pizza at home--the following recipe is a close match toward the famous Marco's White Cheezy pizza.

You will need the following items to prepare your pizza:

Pizza stone or pizza pan. ( Pampered Chef pizza stones work great)

Large mixing bowl

Prep bowls

Wooden spoon

Cooking brush (optional)

Ingredients you will need:

Crust- Purchase a Boboli crust which has already been prepared, or you can use a bagged mix crust and just add water. I prefer the bagged mix because you can season the crust the way you like it. If you want a thick crust-- use two bagged mixes. If you want a thin crust--use just one bag.

4 tablespoons of butter

1 teaspoon of garlic powder

4 oz mozzarella cheese

4 oz freshly grated parmesan cheese

4 oz white cheddar cheese

4 oz fresh crumbled feta cheese

½ lb to 1lb of freshly cooked smoked bacon

½ cup crumbled Italian sausage

¼ to ½ cup pizza sauce (you can make your own or buy at the store)

2 medium-sized vine ripened tomatoes sliced medium thin

½ cup of chopped sweet onion

(optional: use 1 tsp of olive oil if using bagged crust)

(optional: use small prep bowls to measure out and hold your ingredients for easier pizza making!)

In a small prep bowl, melt butter in microwave for 1 minute, remove and then add garlic powder. Stir. Set aside.

If using a bagged pizza mix, prepare as directed on package. Tip: Use olive oil in place of vegetable oil while preparing and kneading the dough.

After preparing the pizza crust, lay pizza dough onto pizza stone to form your pizza with a brush, apply melted garlic butter to crust and stick in the oven for about 5 minutes. Then remove the pizza from the oven.

Apply a thin layer of pizza sauce over the seasoned dough. ( If you wish to apply a thick layer that is fine also, because of there being tomatoes added to the top, I cut back on the sauce)

Add your cheeses. Mozzarella, white cheddar, grated parmesan and crumbled feta.

Add your toppings. Bacon, sausage, onion, and sliced tomatoes.

Cook in oven for about 20-25 minutes on 425 degrees.

(Keep a close watch on pizza as oven temperatures vary.)

Remove pizza from oven and enjoy!

I used to work at Marco's and this was and still is my favorite pizza, hands down.

There isn't sausage on the Marco's version, but it sounds like a good addition! I like to add spinach to mine at home, too.

Back a second time for the recipe. It always stays in this nice safe place where you put it and I can find it.

This sounds wonderful -- but too much cheese and fat for my "delicate insides" -- great job!

I'm excited! First, you describe how wonderful the pizza is - then you tell us how to make it at home. Next, I may start my own pizzeria. On second thought, no...but I will make it!
    :)
