Looking for a fun and easy way to teach your children about Mardi Gras? Check out these printable work sheets and coloring pages on the holiday.

1. Mardi Gras Vocabulary Worksheet: This printable worksheet provides a simple introduction to the terms of Mardi Gras. It isn't too difficult and can be completed by your elementary school aged child (3rd-5th grade) with just a bit of research.

2. Mardi Gras Challenge: A multiple choice quiz on some Mardi Gras vocabulary. This is a great tool to help your child learn these words.

3. Draw and Write: A more creative project, this print out allows your child to draw a Mardi Gras related picture and then write his or her own story about the picture. This could be a great deal of fun for your child, especially if they have plenty of bright colored crayons at their disposal. After all, Mardi Gras is nothing if not festive and colorful!

4. Coloring Page: This is a nice coloring page featuring a carnival mask. You can encourage your child to use the official Mardi Gras colors (purple, gold and green) or just let him or her got to town and make this picture as bright and colorful as they'd like.

6. Printable Mask: What would Mardi Gras be without the masks? Here is a very nice printable carnival mask for your child to enjoy. Know in advanced that you may have to change the size a bit before your print it.

7. Printable Mask: One more mask, this one is a cat mask that may be more suitable for a boy than the one before. I think the size is actually better on this one, so you shouldn't have to make any adjustments prior to printing.

8. Mardi Gras/ Carnival History Worksheet: This sheet gives a child friendly explanation of the origins of Mardi Gras and also of Carnival in South America. It explains this holiday and provides reading practice at the same time.

9. Cryptogram: Figure out the code to discover the secret Mardi Gras message. These can be a lot of fun, but tricky for younger children.

10. Letter Tiles: Cut out the tiles and put them together to try and reveal another secret message. This can also be difficult for young children.
