Maria Pinto: Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Review

Maria Pinto's style was shocking, intricate, and out of the ordinary. She displayed her showcase in New York this week at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Show on Wednesday, September 16th. Her dramatic yet sexy, and bold but romantic style added a feminine classiness to her pieces.

The colors and patterns in this display are vivacious and lovely. The use of lime green, gray, fuchsia, black, white, and silver was very eye catching, and it seems these colors have played a part in a lot of the styles displayed at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week this season. The patterns used in this showcase were vivid and reminiscent of flowers, leaves, and swirls. The many fabrics used were shiny, sheer, and luminous.

I enjoyed her handmade touch in these outfits, and the fine details were darling and unique. Ribbons of fabric were sewn atop garments in flower like swirl designs, and many outfits were covered in beads and sequins for glamour and intrigue. I also enjoyed the simple cuts and lines of many of her pieces, and I felt she created work that is flattering to a woman's body. Many of her outfits have a woody and natural touch, and many inspirations of nature are seen in her collection. Layers and ruffles also added a nice touch to many of her items.

The accessories and hairstyles in this show were also extraordinary and fantastical. I enjoyed the teased out abstract nature of the hair styles in this show, and I enjoyed the frayed fabrics that were worn in complimentary colors to the outfits worn by the models. The use of natural makeup and smoky eyes also added drama to this showcase. Maria Pinto combined romance and drama in a great way that reminds me of Edgar Allen Poe crossed with old time theater.

This collection was very intense, and it was hard to choose my favorite piece, but I have settled on a skirt and shirt combo that is classy, detailed, and beautiful. The shirt is a pale cream satin that has spaghetti straps and a free flowing neckline. This camisole top is accented with s satin flower on one side, and the skirt is a lovely beaded creation. Green glittering lines run down the length of the high-waist skirt, and little white beads frame the bottom of the skirt in flower like shapes. This outfit is gorgeous and sweet.

Maria Pinto's collection is classically beautiful, and it is charming in a dark yet feminine way that has yet to be seen at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.
