Mariah Carey Apologizes for Performance in Michael Jackson Memorial

The world came together to celebrate the life of Michael Jackson as his memorial services was held in Los Angeles' Staples Center. I must admit, to this day I find it hard to believe that Michael has passed on.

Michael's memorial service was highly anticipated by his long line of loyal friends, family and not to mention, his fans. I was amazed to hear reports that the whole stadium was filled. To my recollection, I believe that close to 20,000 people were inside.

The first to perform was Mariah Carey. Come to think of it, back when I was younger, the common female artists I would always hear about would be Mariah, Celine Dion and Whitney Houston. This was before the teeny boppers like Britney and Christina came along. My, have times changed.

Mariah sang the first song in the memorial. She sang her revival of Michael's song "I'll be there" with Trey Lorenz. When she first started singing, I noticed that her voice was choppy and sort of off key. She couldn't hit the high notes that she once did. Then again, can anyone really blame her?

The death of Michael Jackson was a shock to us all. He was supposed to be performing on the 13th of July which is less than a week from now and sadly, he didn't make it. He couldn't make it. He just didn't have enough time.

Today, I read an article from US Magazine where Mariah commented that she wish she did a better job singing but she was just too overcome with emotion.

I watched the memorial from here where I'm at - in Hong Kong and I must say, I couldn't help but feel emotional about the sudden loss of an icon. MJ was truly a talented artist.
