Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon - Drug and Alcohol Allegations Spark Investigation by Social Worker

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are accused of drinking and doing drugs as new parents and this prompted an investigation to open. A social worker visited the couple in the hospital investigating allegations made that Carey and Cannon were using drugs and alcohol, Cannon told this to Piers Morgan last night when he appeared on his CNN show.

Cannon believes someone overheard a conversation and misunderstood the content and ran with it. Mariah was told by a nurse to try some dark beer to promote milk production for breast feeding. Cannon said that it was a misunderstanding and someone may have attempted to make money on this by reporting it to a tabloid.

The social worker approached Cannon in the hospital corridor and said that they were investigating reported drug and alcohol use, not just in the hospital, but while at home alsol. Cannon said that it was sad that someone was trying to make some money off of the twins.

Carey and Cannon were simply following medical advice about the dark beer and there was no wrong doing on the new parents part, Cannon conveyed to Morgan. The two week old babies, Monroe and Moroccan, are still in the NICU. Cannon said that photographers were coming in dressed as medical personal to try and snap a picture of the twins.

The proud new papa said that he didn't want pictures of his twins taken and released to the public, but at the same time people are going to great lengths to get a picture of the babies.

"So you have to figure out a way, like, all right, we got to give the public what they want. But then at the same time, you have to do it in a classy way, in a way that doesn't seem like we are out there parading our children out," said Cannon.
