The first single off of E = MC2 is Touch My Body co-produced and co-written by Mariah Care along with Terius "The-Dream" Nash and Christopher "Tricky" Stewart. The duo is responsible for chart toppers like Rihanna's Umbrella, Mary J. Blige's Just Fine and J Holiday's Bed.
The second single is Mariah's tribute to her father Bye Bye. The track is produced by StarGate and co-written by Johnta Austin. The song is a vintage StarGate mid-tempo track. The song is one of the best tracks on the album.
I'm That Chick is produced by StarGate and channels the magic of their previous collaborations with Ne-Yo. The song is interesting and one of the better on the album.
The Nate "Danjahandz" Hills produced Migrate features in demand artist T-Pain. The song however just does not pop. The song can definitely be seen as a disappointment as the collaborators are greater than the whole of the song.
Young Jeezy joins Mariah on the Scott Storch produced Side Effects. The production is harder and less commercial than you expect from Mariah. The highlight of the song is the verse and the ad-libs from Young Jeezy.
Love Story is one of the big ballads of the album. The track was produced by Jermaine Dupri.
I Wish You Well is a soulful song which shows off Mariah's lush voice. The song is the most heartfelt and well delivered track on the album.
Last Kiss is another track produced by Jermaine Dupri and tries to capture the essence of previous hits like Shake It Off musically.
Cruise Control teams Mariah Carey with Damien Marley and Jermaine Dupri. The song just does not have much to it.
I Stay In Love is produced by Bryan Michael Cox. The song is fairly solid and one of the better efforts on the album.
Swizz Beatz joins the party on O.O.C. the track is vintage Swizz Beatz with a bouncy very danceable beat.
For The Record is another collaboration with Bryan Michael Cox. The song sounds vaguely familiar with Mary J. Blige's Be Without You.
Overall E = MC2 is a fairly solid album. It is hard to top The Emancipation Of Mimi. E = MC2 gets 7.5 out of 10. If you are a fan of Mariah Carey make sure you pick up her new album E = MC2 when it is available in stores on April 15.

Post a CommentI hated this album. I miss the Mariah that belted out notes and made songs with meaning. Now it seems she's just reverting back to her teenage years, and singing the same junk we hear from various other R&B artists. I'm also getting tired of her dressing like a prostitute. Don't get me wrong, I think Mariah is absolutely gorgeous, and her voice is definitely a God given talent. I just wish she would use her talent and beauty to her full potential.
Thanks for the solid review. I am a closet Mariah Carey fan. Best, Jesse
Great album. Mariah is pretty consistent with the most part in producing good and solid material for her albums.
