Marie Osmond Announces Divorce

Allen Butler
Reuters has reported that famed country singer and television star Marie Osmond and her husband of 20 years, Brian Bosil, have announced they are divorcing. In the joint announcement made by the pair it was stated that although divorcing the two were on amicable terms and neither was assigning fault for the divorce.

Osmond first married Bosil in October 1986, a year after she had divorced her first husband Stephen Craig. The couple were married in a full Mormon ceremony. Osmond and Bosil live in Salt Lake City and have raised eight children together, one from her previous marriage. In the statement it was said, "Our children, as always, are our top priority, and in our deep love for them we will continue to jointly fulfill our roles as active parents in their daily lives."

Marie was the only daughter of the famous Osmond family, a proudly Mormon family who rose to become one of the country's most popular musical acts. Unlike her brothers Marie took the country route and made her first hit on the country charts in 1973 with "Paper Roses" when she was only 13 years old.

She became most famous in 1976, when she began cohosting the show "Donny & Marie" with her brother Donny Osmond. The show ran from 1976 to 1979. In the show she became famous for were well-known opening line "I'm a little bit country," to which Donny would respond "I'm a little bit rock n' roll."

She and Donny joined again in 1998 to do a new show entitled "Donny and Marie," this time a talk show. The new Donny and Marie lasted only two seasons. More recently she appeared in the made for TV movie "Inside the Osmonds" as herself, as well as briefly serving as a judge on the TV show "Celebrity Duets."

Since 1991 Marie has also sold her own line of dolls: Marie Osmond Dolls. She is a regular host on the cable shopping channel QVC with her "Marie Osmond Fine Porcelain Collector Dolls." The line of dolls celebrated their 15th anniversary in 2006. She has also begun selling her own sewing and embroidery machines and embroidery designs.

Osmond's name began appearing in the tabloids last summer when it was claimed that Marie had attempted suicide after a brief visit in the hospital. Osmond has repeatedly denied the attempt and her publicist stated it was caused by a brief blacking out period which occurred because of an adverse reaction to some medication she was taking.

  • Hello Ms.Osmond7/31/2009

I have sent you two sets of comments beginning in May and June,2009. I know you have a busy schedule, but it would be helpful if you could send me a reply to my invitations. If you have time, it might be fun to chat over lunch or dinner at your convenience should you be in Phoenix or if I were to come to Las Vegas.

I hope to hear from you. Take care.

    Cordially yours,

I would like to extend the invitation for lunch or dinner I sent you should you come to Phoenix or should you have some free time when I visit Las Vegas or Utah in the near future. Because I am retired, I have a fairly open time frame.

Below are two sets of comments that I sent you earlier. I wanted to add that I watched the biography of Joseph Smith the other night on the BYU channel. The production was outstanding and I plan to contact the local Mormon Church for further information. The Mormon perspective seems to be an advanced lifestyle which is applicable to the various belief systems generated from human thinking. These belief systems appear to be very sound, intellectually correct, and provide human communities a life style model that has considerable merit when applied to an ideal protocol that promotes successful outcomes among our human populations.

I hope to hear from you. Take care.

Thank you for publishing my note to you regarding your talents and your caring thoughts about your place in the community and your family experiences. It sounds like you have had exciting life experiences and challenges.

Two thoughts. First, I have tried the nutrisystem plan regarding weight loss that you and your colleagues have recently promoted. It turned out to be very successful for me. I have been a marathon runner since I was 40 years of age. In fact, I have run the Boston Marathon 11 times as well as other marthons.

Second, I still would like to extend a luncheon or dinner invitation to you should you come to the Phoenix area or.......if I were to come to Las Vegas. I think it would be a worthwhile intellectual experience for both of us.

    Thank your for your consideration.

    Cordially yours,

  • Hi Marie5/4/2009

Since you are single now and probably want to remain that way, I wanted to extend an invitation for you to join me in the desert on a spring morning. Nature speaks in colors and the you can feel the winds blowing softly permeating every cell in your body. A natural cleansing.

    Dearest Marie,

I understand that you are coming to Phoenix in the near future. If at all possible, I would like to meet you in person for lunch or dinner. I have been a fan of yours and the Osmond family many years. I was very impressed with you and your brother's interview on the Larry King show, recently. You are a unique person who is blessed with a marvelous voice and many talents as well as,and most important, a wonderful mother.

Several years ago, as a teen-ager, I became very interested in the Mormon Church in Seattle, Washington. After I completed my Ph.D. in Psychology at the University of Washington, I was employed as a Psychology Professor at Shoreline Community College and part time at the University of Washington. I also becamed a licensed psychologist in the Seattle area. From that point on, I began an interesting academic career in psychology, a father of two wonderful children, and engaged in many events that were life fulfilling.
