Marie Osmond Son Dead- Jumped to His Death; Star Trek's 'Chekhov' Son Hung Himself

Marie Osmond Son Dies; Growing Pains' Andrew Koenig Dies: Both Deaths Under Investigation

Saturday, February 27, 2010; Los Angeles, Calif. Tragedy struck actor-singer Marie Osmond, 50, when her eighteen-year-old son Michael Blosil died this Friday night. Blosil was one of the five children adopted by Osmond and Brian Blosil during their twenty-year marriage, which ended in a 2007 divorce. The couple had eight children altogether- two natural children and Osmond's natural child from her first marriage, whom Brian Blosil adopted.

A 911 call was made last night just before 9:30 that someone had fallen. Paramedics responded. Michael Blosil is said to have committed suicide by plunging to his death from his Los Angeles apartment.

Blosil's roommates and friends told police that Blosil was clean and sober in recent times. Blosil was in rehab at age sixteen for undisclosed reasons. Yet, he was said to suffer from chronic severe depression. A report in 2007 placed him in rehab at age seventeen. Blosil left an apparent suicide note in which he said he intended to commit suicide because of his ever-present depression leaving him prone to feeling as if he had no friends and could never fit in.

The LA County Coroner's Office, which presides over the autopsies of some of the most famous people in the world, will investigate the circumstances of Blosil's death. If the findings suggest foul play, a homicide investigation will take place.

This Osmond-Blosil tragedy comes on the heels of another chronic-depression-related suicide by a celebrity's child, who himself had some fame- Andrew Koenig.

On Thursday February 25, 'Growing Pains' actor Andrew Koenig, 41, a resident of Vancouver British Columbia, was found hanging from a tree in a wooded area of downtown's Stanley Park- a place that he usually frequented to enjoy. Koenig played the friend Richard 'Boner' Stabone of star Kirk Cameron on the TV sitcom 'Growing Pains' (1985-1992). The actor's father, Walter Koenig, said, "My son took his own life." The elder Koenig played Pavel Chekhov on the original TV series 'Star Trek' . A coroner has begun investigating young Koenig's death.

Donny & Marie. When brother-and-sister pop duo Donny and Marie Osmond performed on their show 'Donny & Marie' (1976-1979) with their wholesome looks and big bright smiles, the pair's personal lives seemed as if they would run forever as a lightweight 1950s/60s sitcom such as 'The Donna Reed Show' or the 'The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet'. However, the siblings have their fair share of life experiences, good and bad.

Born performers, Donny and Marie also hosted a TV talk show in the late nineties. Still singing together, Donny and Marie are appearing at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas. Tonight's show is canceled. Young Blosil had been residing with his mother in Las Vegas while attending high school.
