Marie Osmond's Son, Michael Blosil, Autopsy Results "Deferred"

Marie Osmond's Son Died of an Apparent Suicide, but Final Report's Cause of Death Awaits Toxicology Tests

An autopsy of Michael Blosil, the 18-year-old son of Marie Osmond, found that he was the victim of an apparent suicide when he jumped from his Los Angeles hotel room to his death Friday night. According to TMZ, the cause of death has been listed as "deferred," pending toxicology tests, but the manner of death was consistent with information investigators found at the scene. And although Michael Blosil left a note, investigators want to make certain that drugs and/or alcohol did not contribute to his death.

Michael is the second troubled son of a celebrity to be found dead in a week. Andrew Koenig, child star and the 41-year-old son of actor Walter Koenig (Chekhov on "Star Trek"), was found hanged in a Vancouver park last week.

Marie Osmond's son, Michael, was also in a depressed state, according to sources that told TMZ that a note he left a friend at the hotel where he was staying revealed he was unhappy, that he was doing a few things for the last time, and that the friend was his only true friend in Los Angeles. His roommates also told police that Michael Blosil had attempted to kill himself before.

However, the Los Angeles Police Department wasn't willing to simply rule the case a suicide. They launched a death investigation and turned the case over to the Coroner's Office. If there is a detection of foul play, further investigation into the young man's death may be necessary. Although the preliminary autopsy report is consistent with a finding of suicide, the toxicology reports are necessary to help rule out contributing factors.

Still, the final autopsy report, even if it reveals that Michael Blosil, was clean and sober at the time of his death (something that friends and roommates have attested to when talking to police, notes TMZ), may not reveal enough to suggest that Blosil died of murder or even accidentally.

But suicides can be worrisome to investigators - because they just might not be suicides, so an air of suspicion often surrounds a suicide case. Marie Osmond revealed that her son, Michael, had been in rehab in 2007; however, under what circumstances her son was in rehab, she has never divulged. Osmond wrote of battling depression herself in a 2001 autobiography.

Marie Osmond's son's suicide (pending) occurred just days after the body of Andrew Koenig, the child star of "Growing Pains," had been found. Andrew Koenig's parents, who had searched for Koenig for days, noted that their son was prone to depression and had not been taking his medication. He was discovered deep inside the park by one of the 11 friends and family members that had organized their own search party. Walter Koenig said simply that his son "took his own life."

It's very sad that this happened, and there sure are a lot of questions surrounding it.
