Extremely rare photos of Marilyn Monroe have been unveiled after a hobby photographer found the images as negatives in an envelope at a garage sale in Parisppany, New Jersey. The lucky find came for Anton Fury at a 1980 garage sale, in which he only paid $2 for the negatives of Marilyn Monroe.

In the rare photos of Marilyn Monroe, the Hollywood icon is her usual playful self, posing by a swimming pool and looking off with a big smile. The pictures are believed to have been taken when she was around 24-years-old and not quite a big name yet. In the same envelope containing the negatives of Marilyn Monroe, was one of actress, Jayne Mansfield. The photos are speculated to have been taken by the same photographer.

Owner of Rare Marilyn Monroe Photos Held On to Them Since 1980

Anton Fury has held onto these images since 1980, but gave CNN the rights to publish them. Fury gave them to David W. Streets in Beverly Hills to get them appraised. He's an art dealer and appraiser familiar with Marilyn Monroe photographs. He's hoping to find out who the photographer was of the images, where they were taken, and when.

A few years back, rare photos of Marilyn Monroe were released from a LIFE photo session with Ed Clark before she was ever famous. This newest find indicates there must be more photos of the iconic movie star still to be uncovered.
