But first, before the "L&O: LA" or "LOLA" premiere, one of its stars will show up in L&O: SVU. Actor, Skeet Ulrich, who plays Detective Rex Winters on "LOLA" has a guest spot on the third episode of L&O: SVU. "Behave." The episode is about a victim of multiple rape, and unopened rape kits.
Right on the heels of "Behave," the new L&O premieres and Mariska Hargitay shows up in their debut episode "Hollywood." Hargitay, who plays Detective Olivia Benson, recently told E! Online that her guest spot is inspired by her real work on behalf of rape victims.
"We are doing the show about the backlog of untested rape kits" the longtime L&O: SUV star said. "It's something people don't know about. After a woman's been raped and goes through a four- to six-hour very traumatizing and invasive procedure you would expect it gets tested. But ... most of the times, they sit on a shelf in a police facility." Olivia explained that one of things her foundation, Joyful Heart, works toward is changing this terrible situation.
Regarding her guest starring spot of L&O: LA, Mariska said that she thinks the new show will be "strong right out of the gate." She was very impressed with their "incredible cast."
And so am I ... L&O: LA has added Peter Coyote to the cast as the lead district attorney in the Jack McCoy role on the New York L&O. Peter Coyote has appeared in a couple of L&O episodes, on "Criminal Intent" and "Trial by Jury." In CI, he was a bad guy and in the other one, he was a defense attorney. With Peter Coyote in the cast, they really didn't need to send Oliva Benson over. I would have watched anyway.
Skeet Ulrich's partner is played by Corey Stoll as Det. Tomas "TJ" Jaruszalski. Their captain (the Anita Van Buren of L.A.) is played by Rachel Ticotin.
On the courtroom side, we have Alfred Molina as Deputy D.A. Ricardo Morales, who works with Eva Price's character, Lauren Stanton. When Morales isn't on the case, Terrence Howard is as Deputy D.A. Jonah "Joe" Dekker, and he works with Megan Boone as Lauren Stanton.
Wyatt Russell, son of Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn also has a guest starring role in the first episode, "Hollywood."
Last week, NBC kicked off the new season of "Law & Order: SVU" with two episodes. It wasn't exactly a "to be continued" two-parter, but the episodes were related since the criminal convinced the Detectives that he was a good guy in the first hour,"Locum." Olivia Benson finally figured it out in the second episode "Bullseye," but not before looking truly shocked a couple of times. That's my only issue with Detective Benson. You would think after more than a decade on the Special Victims Unit, nothing would shock her, but maybe that's part of her character since she is not only an SVU detective, but a child conceived during a rape whose mother chose to keep her.
Tune into NBC beginning at 9 pm ET for two great hours of "Law & Order." Don't miss Mariska on her own show, Special Victims and in her guest spot on the premiere of L&O: LA.

Post a CommentGood job....Ulrich nearly carriend TOUCH, a weaker but amusing tx of E-Leonard's novel.
Great recap. My daughter is addicted to the L & O shows.
Great report.
Yes, sadly, it's true for SVU -- they might as well call it the Benson & Stabler show
I watched the season premiere and last night episodes of Law and Order Special Victims. I am missing the Law side of the show. I also noticed that "Olivia" had the most part of the two episodes. I don't like the format, I would like to see more equal participation of the other characters and the "Law" part in the show.
The re-runs are finally over!
Skeet's a cutie! Haven't seen him enuf in recent years.
I think there are more Law and Orders than CSIs!
